Pick 27

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Has some serious wheels and evasive skills this lad. May be a touch high given the medias's top 30's.

Great skill set and list fit for us but not a reach really IMO. Considering the pick will be between 32-35 (after academy picks) that would be right around the mark for him.

Recent long term hammy issue the only concern. Got back for the GF but missed a lot of footy this year.

Ta. I haven't seen much about him so looked him up. Over ager this year but didn't get overlooked last year, reports were he just didn't play, per Chris25.

He looked to have a decent boot on both sides too. If we are looking to replace a role Seedsman played as that running halfback winger with some pace, this guy looks to fit the bill. Hopefully not a Freeman replacement with his previous hammy issue.

Knightmare I know you are a fan of Luke Partington but is there any chance Ryan Clarke slides to us? They seem similar; hard working accumulator types that go forward and kick goals. Clarke as a Vic lad (Eastern Ranges) might appeal.

Both are possibly available and are likely to go roughly in our draft range.

I like both.

The major difference is ball use, and Clarke does by foot have some inconsistencies which is why I lean towards Partington.

The state they come from, Victoria or elsewhere doesn't matter to me. And given we're building a good young core that may be able to contend, go home factor is less of an issue.

Clarke would be a terrific get though. His work rate and gut-running is without equal in this draft. And like Partington he has the pace, ability to find the footy in bunches and hit the scoreboard.

Cheers. Thanks for the insight. Sounds like either Partington or Clarke wouldn't be a bad result for us.

They're strawberry blondes at best

I am ranga, hear me roar.

We need a ranga....anygood ones at pick 27?

Clayton Oliver and Aaron Francis are the two rangas who can play in this draft. You'd need a top 10 pick to secure one or the other though.

Not at 27 but what about the Ranga that kicked a few goals in the VFL GF? Energetic, nippy, small forward (list need). Could be a go with a very late pick or in the rookie draft.

I agree, the rangas are usually tougher and willing to put their head over the pill. look at Gary Rohan has all the makings of being a soft outside runner but because he is a ginger he actually goes in and puts his body on the line... Still a spud tho.

Dream world in respect our picks, likely availability and ordered in preference at each pick:

27 - Daniel Rioli / Ryan Clarke / Luke Partington / Alex Morgan / Brayden Fiorini / Kieran Lovell

66 - Brayden Fiorini / Kieran Lovell Callum Moore / Blake Hardwick

77 - Callum Moore / Blake Hardwick / Tom Phillips

Is there room at the club for more Moore's?

I actually think he has massive scope. He came along leaps and bounds this year.

He has some really nice tricks. I'm hoping his kicking is fixable given his short exposure to the oval ball.

I think the reason Alex would struggle with us is that Buckley is very intent on kids who have a huge appetite for the competitive nature. Alex turned his back on footy 12 months ago so would need to convince them he is committed and wouldnt walk again. Compare that to a kid like Ben Crocker who is a competitive animal. When you think about Maynard and De Goey selections I just wonder if we dont aim more at a Crocker than a Morgan. Dont get me wrong I like Alex. Has terrific pace but its his ball use thats his thing. Its elite. Other kid I reckon we would be right into is Cunningham. He is a Freeman clone.....bar the injuries.

I've always been impressed with your data retention Knightmare but this is taking it to a new level. Hair colour needs to be factored in to the Collingwood moneyball equation.

Also, next year KM can you run an analysis on star signs. I reckon the Pies need a Leo or an Ares for some extra aggression around the contest,

Thanks mate.

I think you're talking about Jayden Stephenson, but a couple of things:

A) He's blonde, not a ranga.

B) He's not only too young to be taken in the 2015 draft; he's too young for the 2016 draft too.

He's an absolute freak talent - He's projecting as a potential #1 pick in the 2017 draft if he continues his development.

Brett Anderson (Inside Football/SEN) released his final top 50 power rankings this morning (link below). If we could land 2 or even 3 from this list with our 3 live picks that would be great.

Here are his ratings of ones likely to be available at or around our first pick:

Tom Cole (24), Brayden Fiorini (27), Aidyn Johnson (28), Mason Redman (29), David Cunningham (30), Dan Rioli (32), Ben Crocker (33), Josh Dunkley (35), Blake Hardwick (39), Tom Phillips (40)

According to him we could forget about these who have been mentioned in this thread :

Ben McKay (17), Ryan Burton (18), Ryan Clarke (19)

Whilst others he has a bit lower (may be options at our 2nd pick) that are a bit of a surprise are:

Luke Partington (41), Alex Morgan (43), Callum Moore (48), Declan Mountford (49), Yestin Eades (50).

No love for Kieren Lovell in his top 50 prospects.

No different bloke. I looked him up and his name is Anthony Anastasio. 22yo from Williamstown but only 169cm. So forget about that.

Elite kicking and pace to burn. Hmm. Sounds pretty juicy to me but again, I don't get to interview these kids not talk to junior coaches etc that could give you a decent attitude gauge on a kid like this.
