Imagine him teaming up with 'the Flash', he could provide relief for Davey up forward, while Davey could use his damaging foot skills to greater effect on the wing. We already passed up one superstar of similar 'ilk' in Alwyn Davey last year, we can't do it again.

I can see where you're coming from, but I think Newton definitely has the tools to replace Neita in the forwardline. Ideally I'd like another tall down there to play CHF/FF (I'm not sure if Newton is a FF or CHF or plays in-between i.e Barry Hall) but above anything else I think we need a big bodied key defender, a quick midfielder and a ruckman in that order.

I love Juice just as much as the next person but I still think he is rather soft. He can take a hangar and read the play but he is not a strong body like Brown, Hall, Mooney etc. I think he will be a player for us but I do see the need to invest (somehow!) in a strong, power forward.

Where we produce this big power forward is anyone's guess but we can't put ALL our eggs in the Juice basket... only most of them!

I'm losing faith in Flash, this year he has shown me absolutely bugger all. Yeah he's had a few injuries and a suspension thrown in there which has hurt dramatically. That kid needs a swift kick in the ass to keep him in line, he is has shown an attitude and gets set off too easily.

As soon as he steps out of line I want to see a Demon player belt him and set him straight.

CFH, Juice isn't soft. Just because he isn't an aggressive type (although he did flatten some Carlton hack) doesn't make him soft. Robbo isn't aggressive, but that guy puts his body on the line every week.

Dez! I am not too worried about Davey, he will be alright next year. It's a big learning curve. Firstly, copping extra attention, then having to deal with injuries/suspension, then having to play in a shit team. I am sure we will see an exciting Flash next year.

He hasn't been consistent I will grant you that, but he has shown flashes. What about his 29 posession 2 goal game against the Doggies earlier in the year. He singlehandedly kept us in the game with his damaging ball use, and his ability to clear thru the packs with his pace. I think Melbourne needs to draw a line in the sand with Davey the same way Geelong did with Gary Ablett this pre-season, and ask him to get 100% match fit in an effort to play him closer to a midfield role next season. I think Davey is every bit as talented as Gary Jnr , (which I know is a big statement) and can influence the game in the same way. But I still don't think he has the match fitness to run out a full four quarters, this is why I think you see him disappear in an out of games. But If Bailey can get the most out of his talent, look out. The sky is the limit.

Port have a good record of getting the most out of the Aboriginal players, so hopefully Bailey can bring some of that over to the Junction Oval.

Personally, i don't see Davey as a midfielder or like Ablett. Yes they both have friekish skills but one of Ablett's strengths is the fact he is so good at breaking tackles and keeping his feet. Davey just doesn't have the size or strength to do this, which is why he shouldn't be playing in the midfield. Davey needs to go back to his origonal role of opportunist crumbing forward, that is where he is most dangerous. Put him in a forward pocket and he'll kick you 40+ goals a year. Don't forget you have the likes of Petterd and Bartram running through the midfield who i believe are more suited to that position.

On another note i also believe that Green should go back to being a perminant forward. A couple of years ago he was one of the best set shots in the competition. Now he's an average midfielder. I never quite understood why Daniher tried to turn everyone into midfielders. If my memory is correct in one of the earlier games this year we were forced to play him forward due to injuries and he kicked 4!

Was just talking to a mate this afternoon today about Green being a permanent forward where he started his career and l agree with you 100% there. He has a beautiful kick for goal and that is wear we need him. Good call Bingo

Green was a permanent forward as there wasn't a big spot for him in the midfield, and helped him develop him game without being thrown tothe wolves

take him out of the midfield, and who cant constantly hit targets?

his foot issues have healed up VERY well, so his kicking back to perfection (50m passes from the centre square down juices throat will be a feature in 2008!!)

also his toughness in the air and on the ground, and his leadership are needed in the midfield and mopping up around the backline



also, talking of pick 4, how does this trade sound

Port Adelaide get: Pick 4, Mark Jamar

Western Bulldogs get: Brad Miller, Pick 14 (or whatever Port Adelaide gets)

Melbourne get: Pick 5 and Steven Salopek


Port get pick 4 as so they can pick up Ebert in the draft, which both SA clubs DESPERATLY want, and a solid ruckman (lade and brogan getting on)

Bulldogs get a quality tall who can play at either end

Melbourne get a good quick-ish midfielder, only dropping one pick in the draft

But not great for the power, pick 4 and Jamar for Salopek and 14, they do get a favourite son (kind of) but lose a midfielder on the edge of taking it to the next level, I'd see them being more interested in a straight swap of pick 4 for Salopek, so they keep pick 14.

And terrible for the dogs, pick 5 for pick 14 and Miller, they would be better off taking Henderson with pick 5 than slipping to 14 and having to deal with Miller.

I believe that trade would fail miserably.

Agreed we reall lacked a crumbing forward this season so many times the ball hit the deck and nobody was there....have davey as crumber and pinch hit on the ball..

As for green if we must keep him then a permenant forward role will surffice.

If only you could be the coach during trade week, then pick up Rance with pick 5, and Port would be creaming themselves over the chance to grab Brad Ebert with Pick 4. However Doggies would need more than Brad Miller and pick 14, when they have the chance of picking up Henderson with pick 5 already

Well apparently there is interest from the Doggies for Robbo. If he does go i'd be very hapy for Green to take his place as the medium lead up forward. Both have good speed, hands and kick.

I love Robbo, but at 29 (in november) if we could cash in on him and get a first rounder or something, or a player and third rounder. We'd be stupid not to look at it. Especially when we have Green who could fill his spot.
