That footage is all well and good in small parts -

What I saw from that footage was :

1 he's big and gives away alot of frees
2 Gets caught with the ball
3 Good over head mark against a midget
4 Shanked it into the fifty numerous times (Peake like)
5 1 good check side
6 Bombs it long again (Peake like)
7 Missed most shots on goal - bar the check side and the burst from the pack)

Thats just what I wrote down as I watched it, geez if thats what everyone is frothing on then I'm worried.

It seems like everyone is barring up over him because of this so called amazing x factor and potential. I reckon we need someone solid with good foot skills. On that footage alone, he aint that.

Those 2 goals are exceptional for a player his size. He's a big unit who is difficult to tackle. He often gets his hands free in the clearances and puts teammates into space.

A couple of his kicks were shanked. He was a little hard done by with that Free against. Nobody is perfect. But for a player of his size and strength to look so comfortable in the midfield will be an asset. Our midfield has been too small and weak for too long. It would be great to have a player who can wrestle the ball out into the open. Much like Pavlich.

I agree with what youve said - I hope I dont sound to harsh, cause he's just a young fella and all..........but if you compare his vid to Dustin Martins vid, I know who I'd be picking.

People need to stop judgements based on a few crappy YouTubes, especially interstaters who wouldn't have even seen him live.

Anyway it's all irrelevant, I think pick 4 will likely be Morabito but really it could be anyone, Martin/Lucas, hell they could take Jetta or Panos even.

Thats why i personally don't have a preference to which player we pick, i trust the recruiters to make the right decision and whoever we get i know will (like the last couple of years drafting) put their heart and soul into playing for the club, unlike previous sissy's who wanted to go home.

Over the past couple of weeks I have turned to a Lucas fan.
The Draft camp has really intensified my feelings.
I reckon he'll be a 250 game player - and I've got this horrible feeling the scum will get him.
For me personally - hes got the runs on the board - starred at WAFL Level 5 goals from the midfield iirc. Blitzed the DC and has wait for it............ good foot skills.

Whats Morabito done to cause all the froth?

Lucas is the safe option ,Morabito the X factor ,where have I heard that before:rolleyes:

You guys like youtube vids so much go check out Majak Daw's. Looks as good as NickNat in that video but he probably won't even going the national draft.

The video's of Morabito show every possession and involvement in the game including the mistakes/free kicks etc. Its not as if its just one video either. There are 5 such video's of Morabito games so its a pretty decent selection and insight into his potential/ability. Arguably, most recruiters probably haven't seen him play 5 times so those 5 video's probably give a better insight into his ability/potential.

Majak's video was a highlights video so only shows his best bits - they don't show that he only does one or two things per game. Agree, will struggle to get drafted (may get rookied).

See the 5 Mora video's at: http://www.afldraftinfo.com/2009/04/anthony-morabito-peelwa-video-footage.html

In almost all of these vid's he still shows pretty ordinary skills and decision making.

Tell you what though. Lewis Jetta is seriously good. Check out his video's particularly the state game vs SA. Elite skills.

Five video's of Kane Lucas also. Skills not great either, but looks better than Mora:

Agree with that. If someone compiled a similar video of one of Peake's games it's safe to say there wouldn't be much interest.

Jetta was shocking in Swannies prelim though which counts against him.

I was hoping that he'd slide to pick 20 but now I hope he's gone by then and the club goes tall with our 2nd pick.

Some diss his foot skills but he was the standout kick in the game against South Australia. I know he is a 25+ touch midfielder at AFL level after 3-4 years and he will only get better as he grows and gains some size.

What has impressed me the most is his marking ability. For a guy who stants at 188cm and 80 Kilos he is great over head. Outmarking fully grown men at WAFL level, he also attacks the ariel contestes pretty well for a skinny guy.

Ive got a nickname for him, The Mini Pav.

He went to town in the first 4 games in the champs. Was the standout player in games at Subiaco if it was not for Swallow/ Scully.

I must admit that I am starting to agree. Lucas is having an excellent draft camp. Did very well in the kicking accuracy test and aced the agility run as well as top results in the 3k time trial.

Not to mention that he had strong carnivals and form in WAFL.

Anyone else think that he is rocketing into contention for the Number 4 pick???

Just show his most famous moment...this

Watch him anticipate the play at 0:13 on the HB line, and then watch him(via his shadow) burn off his opponent while he sprints half the ground to receive the pill and finish off superbly. Thats not easy on the legs.

Carn Sainters, make an offer.:D

I would consider him if we had another 2nd rounder, but that looks unlikely at this stage.

 Indeed

Didn't place in the top 10 for kicking accuracy....
1st in agility
3rd in the time trial with a 10.05

We all knew he was a good runner before draft camp, that's how he accumulates the ball for WA and in the WAFL. His results just prove that.
Furthermore, there are like 25 kids at DC that didn't test because of injury.

Looks like Freo will have its choice of WA boys if this article is anything to go by in the Herald Sun today! :D:thumbsu:

RICHMOND is poised to partner midfield gem Trent Cotchin with another outstanding onballer from next month's draft.

Clean-skilled midfielder Dustin Martin has firmed as the Tigers' target after testing brilliantly at the AFL Draft Camp in Canberra this week.

This does look good for us to get Morabito.
My only concern now is that Black from Peel has tested so well.
Was really hoping that he was coming to us with our 2nd choice.
Who knows maybe he will be our first pick.
We are going to be in desperate need of key position players in 2 years time.

Crap. Richmond actually do something sensible for once.

Brades, who do you think that we should take at Pick 4? I was always leaning towards Morabito because he could turn into an excellent forward for us in future.

Lucas has done some excellent work at the draft camp and his WAFL and Carnival experience would fast track his development.

Torn between the two, I think that Lucas is a sure thing but Morabito could turn out to be anything.

I think Mora is a given now at 4. The question is who will be available at 20? Black will be the best result but he may not last that long. The only certain KPP ahead of him will be Butcher, Talia and Panos. Prob Hawthorn, Bulldogs, Melbourne and StKilda are certain to grab a kpp with a pick inside the top 20. If Black is not available then I think we should look at Fitzpatrick, Griffiths or Carlise. If we snare someone like Fyfe, Hutchings or Donaldson with 36 then that would be a good result.
How I wish we could get another first rounder for Tarrant and Peake/Drum

How I wish we could get another first rounder for Tarrant and Peake/Drum

Me too. It would change our drafting plan significantly.

From the looks of things, we'll probably go...

4. Morabito (Best Available)
20. Black/Griffiths/Fitzpatrick (KPF)
36. Hartigan/Luff (KPD)

But if we could get at the very least an extra second round pick for Drum or Peake as well as a unlikely first round pick for Tarrant, our first 5 picks would look more like...

4. Morabito (Best Available)
~16. Bastinic/Duncan/Gysberts (Best Midfielder)
20. Black/Griffiths/Fitzpatrick (KPF)
~32. Taylor/Fyfe/Winmar (Best Available)
36. Hartigan/Luff (KPD)

IMO we should at the very least attempt to trade for another pick in the first two rounds.

As long as we get 2 picks inside 50 for Drum and Peake we should be fine. I would love to get Josh Donaldson at 54 (our 4th rounder)

Looks like your little picture may just come true IbbosBFF. I lurrve the jumper that you made for him. Most Excellent!:thumbsu:

Now, only if we can get our hands on Black as well:( Not so sure about that.

Morabito and Black would be perfect. Sadly i think Black might be picked up a bit earlier though than our 2nd round pick.

Ten midfielders that are almost certain first rounders:

 1. Scully
 2. Trengrove
 3. Martin
 4. Cunnington
 5. Morabito
 6. Lucas
 7. Rohan
 8. Stevens
 9. Jetta
 10. Tapscott
Others expected to go first round:

 1. Talia
 2. Vardy
 3. Christensen
 4. Gysberts
Quality Talls:

 1. Butcher
 2. Panos
 3. Black
 4. Carlisle
 5. Griffiths
 6. Fitzpatrick
So either we are going to be able to pick up one of those talls in the second round. Or we get to pick up another quality midfielder like Sheppard, Duncan, Melksham or Bastinac who has fallen. Then nab Joel Houghton in the 3rd round and we are set.

Morabito/Black/Best Available is my preference but I'm not worried if Black goes earlier than 20. Would be spewing if we passed on him (Memories of McKenernan and Trengrove)
