Pick 43- Draft 2016

My pick preference
13. Brodie/Hayward
Next. Begley
Next. Lipinski
Next. Lebois/stengle

Pretty much spot on as far as I am concerned. Ideally something like this would be perfect for my liking.

Pick 13 Brodie
43 Poholke
53 Lipinski
66 Stengle
82 Ratougolea

Rookie draft
McCarthy
Jarman

So many players that could be a bargain at 43/53/66 that I would be thrilled with though - Scharenberg, Begley, Lebois, Sproule, Drew, Mutch, Allison, Clarke, Himmelberg, Atley and more. Looks like a really talented draft this year.

Wondering why there isn't much love for Parfitt? Would love him at pick 53 or later, if he wasn't under 180cm I'm sure he'd be in late second round calculations based on last years form. Creative inside/outside mid who will Imo develop a decent outside game. Only real knock atm is his disposal and endurance.

So hes short and has iffy disposal and you are wondering why no love?

Lachie Neale is short with iffy disposal... The lad was in contention for first round selection last year... If you watched some footage, I think you'd see what I'm on about.

I feel as if he could be a 179cm version of Brad Crouch (not the same ceiling, but similar type).... Foot Skills would be on par with Brad's at the same age imo...

Edit: Needed more dots

I'm feeling this:

13: Gallucci/Hayward
43: Begley
53: Lipinski
67: Ratugolea
82: Jarman/Pass
I don't think that we will pick Ben Jarman. The fact that we didn't name him as a father-son suggests that we a fairly confident that there will be a better player available at 82 and don't want to be locked into taking Jarman.

This is the reason why those saying there won't be decent players available later in this draft have NFI..

AFL Draft 2016: Clubs urged to give Northern Knights midfielder Luke Bunker a shot on Friday night

AFL clubs are being urged to give Northern Knights midfielder Luke Bunker a chance in this year’s national draft.

Bunker is rated by Champion Data as one of the country’s most talented junior prospects, yet no invite to last month’s national combine has given rise to speculation he may slip through undrafted on Friday night.

Champion Data ranked Bunker as the 25th best player in the 2016 draft class, with his numbers in both the TAC Cup and the national championships supporting their view.

“He was one of the most consistent players all year,” Champion Data said in its Phantom Draft.

“He won 23 or more disposals in all of his TAC Cup matches and at the national championships he had the most score involvements of any Vic Metro midfielder.”

According to their official numbers, Bunker rated elite for disposals, clearances and tackles throughout the recent TAC Cup season.

Meanwhile, he rated above average for both kicking efficiency and contested possessions.

They’re stats the youngster carried into the national carnival with Vic Metro, where he averaged 22.3 disposals, 10.3 contested possessions, 5.3 tackles and 3.5 clearances per game.

Statistics like those stack up against the best midfield prospects in this year’s draft class, yet still his name was a noticeable absentee from a list of 80 players invited to last month’s combine testing. Many have claimed he could slip to the rookie draft as a result.

But Northern Knights talent manager Rhy Gieschen believes Bunker already has the qualities to play AFL football at a really high standard.

“The attributes that he has are already at AFL level, in terms of his contested and clearance work and his general midfield smarts,” Gieschen told foxfooty.com.au.

“The fact he had such a good national carnival, if you look at players that have that much output on games, they generally hold up pretty well at AFL level.

“If he’s given the opportunity, he’d be a player that certainly wouldn’t let down any AFL club.”

Experts have suggested Bunker lacks a ‘wow factor’, but others have stressed the midfielder is the type of player that could be ready to go in Round 1 next year.

And while he might lack a hint of speed on the outside, his absence from last month’s combine testing was a shock — especially considering the differing views of where he might fall in the draft.

“It was a bit of a surprise, particularly based on his football performances across the course of the year,” Gieschen said.

“I’m hoping that was a result of the fact that they’re across what Luke can do, based on him playing all four games in the national championships.

“With Luke, to some extent, it’s what you see is what you get — and that’s a really quality footballer.

“Based on how much access recruiters have had to him throughout the year, I think they’ve got a really good feel for what he brings to the table. That’s what I’m hoping for.”

Following an impressive individual campaign, which included a fourth-placed finish in the Vic Metro best and fairest, Gieschen believes Bunker is deserving of his chance.

“The way that you see him play on the field and how consistent and competitive he is sums up the way he is off the field,” he said.

“He’s a really good leader of our program, he’s our vice-captain, he ticks all the boxes — whether it’s nutrition, training or recovery. And he drives really high standards with our group, which we certainly needed at the Knights throughout the course of the year.

“He’s really driven and really professional.”

Looks good, my feeling is pick 13 will be out of Berry, Gallucci, Cox or Cumming. Hayward for mine reminds me of how everyone had us picking Burton last year, no ones quite sure who we'll go, but Hayward is there abouts and a South Aussie who no doubt we have some level of interest in. He just seems to be a bit too high risk of failure for a 1st rounder.

It actually reminds me more of the Milera situation, everyone knew we were keen but up until a few days before the draft GC were going to him first. Possible question mark was if Milera and McKay were available.
Should be a close call between the players you listed I reckon he's right the mix.

I honestly think he'll go before that pick, but if he's available, I reckon we'll pick him. If he's not there, I reckon we pass.

What was the reason behind not nominating him as a father son then? The only reasons that I can come up with are that: they don't want to draft him (which doesn't appear to be the case) or; they think there will be better options available at our last pick and don't want to be forced into pick Jarman over the better talent. Either way I think it is safe to assume that the club is not intending to pick Jarman tonight.

For mine he's just an extremely speculative, high risk pick who has produced very little against decent opposition. Where Hayward was kicking bags against U18s, Milera was kicking them against SANFL league sides at the same time. Generally SA players who go early have played predominantly League, or at the very least predominantly reserves, Hayward's spent most of his time in the U18's and when playing for SA managed a paltry 7 touches a game.

Hayward whilst hugely talented, represents a massive risk as he just has no runs on the board against decent opposition, nor has he been exposed as a midfielder, the position which you'd want him to develop into if you pick him in the top 20. I just think his risk will drop him down the order and as such a few others, also with a lot of talent will be higher on our list.

The person you just described sounds more like Doedee than Burton though? Are Cox or Cumming not a bit speculative?

How many 3rd tall forwards do we want?
Signorello's not a 3rd Tall, he's an inside/outside midfield ball magnet that can play forward with a booming kick, elite overhead for his size with great speed and agility...Only knock his kick can be a little inconsistent.....would love him with a late pick or rookie pick, been all over him all year.
