one of this mates has joined us and we have a pretty good track record of hanging onto people, not like he showed up wearing a collingwood jumper or something.

Our track record of hanging onto Vic Metro kids is not that good at all. 4 of the 8 Vic Metro kids we have drafted since 2009 have left the club. (Roberton, Michie, Crozier, Balic went home. Apeness, Sheridan, Tucker and Langdon are the ones that are still here).

I unfortunately can't see into the future so I might just enjoy watching him in Purple over the next two years at least. Or maybe I won't, who knows what the future holds.

If you watch both Kersten and McCarthy they know how to lead...Kersten in particular runs the figure 8's that Pav used to.

He may not work hard enough at times but if we have guys like Walters, Bennell, Wilson and Cerra kicking it to them they'll have no excuses

Crozier moved for greater opportunities and so did Michie.
Balic loved the club but has personally issues he need to address.
Roberton got his Victorian gf pregnant (Wilson did the same thing)

It's the girlfriends that worry me.

Nearly right. It won't be Wilson kicking it to them it will be Walters, Bennell, Brayshaw, Hill and Cerra.

Wilson and Ryan will be feeding those final deliverers.

Cerra, Brayshaw, Walters etc might have to line up in the forward pocket if they are going to be fed by Wilson to then feed the forwards. The guy runs like 40m and then kicks it 60.

Roberton left because his missus got preggers and he wanted to be around family in much the same circumstances that we got Wilson this year.
The writing was on the wall for Michie and he was going to be delisted anyway. Didn't last long at Melbourne in the end.
Crozier sought better opportunities elsewhere with a club who was prepared to offer him more years. If we rated him we would have kept him.
No-one is sure of where Balic's head is at but if his Instagram is anything to go by I would be surprised if he is still on a list in 2 years.

Whilst I am not advocating Cerra is not a flight risk I don't think there is enough evidence to say we have a bad track record of keeping Vic Metro kids. Stats show we are worse at keeping GC kids.

Could be rolling off the PC lines but photo with AB smiling with the caption “Very grateful for the opportunity, can’t wait to get started (3x anchor emoji) #godockers” He now has an anchor in his bio and either a lot of sisters or cousins (cerra in their Instagram name) with Purple Hearts and anchors.

The club needs to get onto him and let him know the official hashtag is #gofreo but he’ll learn this pretty quick.

Yeah everyone is well aware of the reasons they left. The point is that anyone can have these kinds of issues but it's only the Melbourne kids who go home because of it. If Roberton's missus was from Wagga Wagga instead of Melbourne he wouldn't have left, because there's no AFL team in Wagga Wagga.

The fact is that 4 of our 8 Vic Metro kids have left. The go home factor is much stronger for Vic Metro kids for obvious reasons - they actually have a pretty good place to go home to. There's not so much go home factor with people who come from shitholes like Adelaide or remote country towns.

As long as there are 10 AFL teams in Melbourne it will always be riskier to select draftees from Melbourne because it's so easy for them to find a new team there. That is not the case with draftees from anywhere else.

Maybe some respect should be shown ... irrespective of what you think people's private lives come into play and they're still kids. It's an emotional time for everyone and there's more to life than a football club. Easy to comment when you're not in their position!
