LIVE: Hawthorn v Sydney - Rd 2 - 7:30PM Thu
Squiggle tips Hawks at 58% chance -- What's your tip? -- Injury Lists »
My worry with Cunnington is that he will be too similar to Ziebell. And that's no sleight on him, as I'm sure he's a good player. But we already have Ziebell and Swallow as our contested footy players. Also Greenwood looked like he could be another hard bodied midfielder. We still need blokes with skill who can take it away from the contest and find targets, and dispose of the ball well in the forward 50. We have Anthony and Wells but I think we need more of these type. I'm leaning towards Kane Lucas (assuming Martin will not be available) as he tested well athletically (speed, endurance, agility and vertical leap), does anyone know how he tested in the kicking test?
Kicking has been reported as a strength and a weakness by some. I have seen some footage of him and he looked pretty sound. And I know he has been able to find a bit of the footy in the WAFL and kick goals as well. What do you guys think in regards to Cunnington v Lucas?
Mitchell, Sewell, Lewis are certainly not express.
Bartel, Corey, Selwood are not quick.
Hayes, Dal Santo, Ball arn't either.
We are building one of those models.
Ziebell & Cunnington is a duo that would bring this clubs mojo back.
I think Wells, Anthony, Urquhart and JWS (God willing) is plenty of run.
You need to win the football before you can use runners in the first place.
Brad Scott, is that you? Also, I am not willing to fit JWS into my plans at this stage.

All valid points Pykie.
But the Saints struggled to fit Ball into their side this year and were found wanting for run on a few occassions.
Also, I am not willing to fit JWS into my plans at this stage. If he can get on the park and play consistently then that is a bonus for me. I am excited by Urquhart, but he still has a bit of ground to cover before he can be relied on week to week.

Ball struggled to fit into the side because he cant kick over a jam tin, and is one dimensional.
Cunnington has kicked bags of 5, 4, 3, 3 this year resting in the forward line and would of won the Morrish medal which he finished 2nd, if not for a reduced number of games.
We may have players that fall into the hard nut category, but how many do you think we have of a Lenny Hayes, Sam Mitchell, Brad Sewell, Bartel, Corey or Selwood quality?
Quality ball winners win premierships, not just a high number of them.
I think out of Wells, Anthony, Urquhart, JWS and even Sam Wright, we are likely to see at least one of them break into the top 35 or so players in the AFL.
Of Adams, Greenwood, Firrito, White and Swallow
I cant be so sure.
Potential certainly, but not as much runs on the board as the runners imo.
And certainly not close to the amount of ddepth that would warrant us passing on a guy like Ben Cunnington.
Your swaying me Pykie. In reality we could probably do with both types. Be interesting to see the way we go.
I tend to agree with Pykie. I personally rate Cunnington the 3rd best mid behind Trengove and Scully and if we were to get a midfielder Cunnington would be my choice.
I reckon Martin could well be the best of the lot.
Assuming we have 2 2nd round picks, I'd like us to pick up a mid like Bastinac/Carey and the look at getting a tall with the pick 25. Which KPP do you think will still be around then? I'd love Nate Fyfe, but i wouldn't really consider him to be KP more of a 3rd tall. Aaron Black or Griffiths could still be around whats your thoughts on them?
Any other KP's who you'd take a punt on in the 3rd or 4th round. I'd personally give Serhat Temel, or Sean Tighe a chance...anyone else on your radar?
interesting agc i havent seen griffiths apart from some videos on their site
ive seen you say that griffiths is arguably the best kp in the draft a few times
surely you are basing this on potential because it doesnt look like he has had many good games at tac cup or u/18 championship level at all
incredibly quick
incredibly impressive
incredibly clever forward
incredible amount of talent there

haha just saw cunnington interview for one of the afl.com.au videos
he sounds exactly like jonathon brown

People like YOU make people like ME depressed come draft day.My mail from an impeccable sauce is that the Tiges are rock hard for Martin. And that Melbourne getting increasingly keen on Morabito.
So:
1. Melbourne: Tom 'The New Trav Johnstone' Scully
2. Meltank: Morabito
3. Tiges: Martin
Now it gets interesting. Do Freo take the next best available talent - Trengove, or the next best available WA talent in Lucas or do they punt and go big as a replacement for Pav with Butcher. Either way, IMO a two in three chance that
5. North Melbourne: Trengove.
THAT would be a bloody result and nowhere near as far fetched as people believe.
