It’s Rayner - from a close, relevant source and Lachlan Fogarty the other Western Jet is joining him

Also according to this source, Balta could slide a LONG way on draft night because of his attitude and off-field activity.

I wouldn’t take him even if he slides to 38 and beyond. Not committed enough and is troubled.

Depends what he's outside activity's are really and as for the attitude I reckon he'll get a rude awakening whichever club he goes to so that wouldn't worry me as such cause there's no doubting his talent.....I'd roll the dice with him if he was still available at 38.

Hine been good with 1st Rounders in the Past.

188cm Utility Type

If there is a chance the kid is rated by others around the 15 pick, why on earth didn’t we do more to trade pick 6 for 2 picks in this range? Maybe pick 6 could have landed Schache and the pick for Murphy. This all assumes that other clubs don’t rate Murphy much higher, but if not, the club seems to operate in a cocoon.

If we want two picks rather than 1, like Lions 12 & 18, why wouldn't they feel the same and just want to keep them?

The other thing is we couldn't know then and maybe not even now if there would be a late charge for a player who rises up the ranks in a club's estimation. You want to make sure you get your man if you think he's the best.

Because IF we do rate Murphy for pick 6 (and that's an if), I doubt we'd be the only team who has him this high or around the mark.

Fair call

There seems to be a number of midfielders outside the top 4 or 5 who could be taken anywhere between 5-20. If we were looking at one, rather than a tall, then giving away 6 for Schache and a pick in the teens potentially could have covered the need for a KPP while still grabbing a midfielder (whether it be Murphy of someone else).

But I hear what you r saying

Too early to tell though. In 1-2 years for all we know Schache could be out of the AFL system and we won't regret not having a nibble.

Having reviewed murphy’s highlights package, he looks very good. I wouldn’t be too disappointed if we picked him. At 6? Not sure. May have a lot of upside.

Still think we could have done a lot more during trade period to get an extra pick though.
Probably not because the Saints and the dogs are into him also.

That is the problem with these kids. Trying to measure upside. Lot's of man child types who look good at u18 level but don't have much natural improvement in them, whereas often its the highly skilled types/fast who lack the strength etc at u18 level but have a lot more upside.

That said, a top 6 pick should be pretty easy to get a 200 game player out of.

Wow what a fall from grace, what do you do if he's still there at 38 or even 56?

Doubt we Draft Balta then. Because of the NO dickhead rule

Maybe we found that NO ONE would trade with us
