Failing Treloar.

Patrick Dangerfield as a free agent would be the guy. But with Dangerfield looking unlikely.

I'd be taking a shot at the other names through trade week. Steven Motlop, Harley Bennell, Lewis Jetta, Chris Yarran and Jeremy Howe as some examples are worth going after and can help us get better through trade week. Motlop and Bennell certainly in straight trades for pick seven I'd do in an instant. Jetta, Yarran and Howe I'd probably want something else as a sweetener to feel motivated to move pick seven.

In the scenario we have no options and we're stuck with lets call it pick seven. Bidding on Jacob Hopper and Ben Keays would be where I'd start as in my view the two best mids - Hopper the best pure inside mid and Keays the classiest/most damaging mid. A bit like last year, no clear guy I'd want at seven. I'd be probably more interested in moving down the first round into two later first round picks with a view to draft Ryan Clarke, Luke Partington and Wayne Milera, with the hope I can get one of those with our second round pick (all classy, athletic types who can do damage and find plenty of the footy). Joshua Dunkley as a bid bodied midfielder and Brandon White as a high level general backman are two others I'd consider in that range as two others I rate highly.
Is Hopper an elite kick? I like the sound of Hopper in the middle. Saw his YouTube highlights good inside. Keays might be the best mid for us though.

Why are you getting so excited? In 12 months time you will be starting roast threads about him.

If we miss out on our main "targets" in the trade period and held on to pick # 7. Who would you want to draft and why???
Sam Weideman.

Having said that I think there is pretty much 0 chance we will go to the draft with that pick.

That's because we're going to win our next two games and end up with pick #9

Hopper is a good but not great kick. Where he is good is in traffic he makes good decisions quickly and can hit his targets. So that's a bid part of the puzzle and makes him such a great midfielder beyond simply being a dominant contested ball winner and clearance winner. Scoreboard impact has been good and has done some good things forward of centre when he has had the opportunity. So he would be my pick over Keays.

But Keays would be a close second. Not as dominant as Hopper with his inside work who is best in draft dominant with his inside stuff, though still very good in his own right. And also not as good v good opposition as he is v worse opposition. But he's got his weapons. Strong overhead, scoreboard impact is there. All class with his ball use. Highly productive and has that inside/outside balance. Endurance excellent. So he'd be a great get and better than those other non-academy mids to me.

GWS would certainly match any bid on Hopper. The question would more be whether Brisbane would match a bid of pick seven for Keays, with Keays generally seen as someone who would be picked around 15, there may be that chance to get him.

I would be very happy with Keays.

treloar is going to richmond
we might get aish with that pick but Id rather look at the draft talent and see if theres a quality goal sneak in the mix. lets face it no big names are going to want to play for us at the moment anyway

You've been sucked into KB? lol

Jesus mate, what happened to you? Your normally upbeat about the club.
Bad day at work?
we are crap otto. we've crumbled like st killda and we didn't even have a nude photo scandal
no shaved balls or tiny dicks to be seen anywhere and we still fell from grace
we got beat by a team with dawes and the gifted prince. he really did get the last laugh.
wtf do you expect me to be upbeat about?

Go to the piledriver awards and give yourself 2 uppercuts and 10 points.
Mucho Man Randy Savage would never speak in such a defeatist manner.

Do you know much about Buzza KM?

Do you know much about Buzza KM?

Buzza showed signs through the u18 champs but at this stage I see him more in the good but not great key forward bracket, which with key forwards means I wouldn't pick him as he isn't by position a superior talent, and no one wants an ordinary key forward.

Nice height at 198/199cm, has some size on him and can take a grab. I just look for a greater level of dominance, particularly for an overager when talking about recruiting for an AFL club.

If we do have a first round pick in the draft would be lunacy not to use on a kpf to pair up with Moore

In theory I would under normal circumstances agree given the success of those key forwards taken in the first round in recent years.

There is also great depth in key position players this year. So that would also under normal circumstances indicate that that would be a suitable route.

In stating all that.

Weideman who is generally seen as likely to go around our first round selection I do not rate as a first round quality talent and I'm not totally convinced he'll be anything better than a Dawes equivalent but without the endurance. Harry McKay is promising but I'm yet to be convinced by him either that I'd be spending a first round pick let alone a top 10 pick to get him.

And as such. If we've got the pick. I'd be taking the best player there (which on my draft board anyway wouldn't be a key forward).

It sounds like Hopper might be the man, could be like Wines?

If we land Aish I think a forward option would be the best bet.

Curnow seems to have some forward ability as well as projecting to be that tall midfield option.

How does he rate compared to Bontempelli?

Oherwise Weideman or Burton depending on how Hine rates.

Any chance we trade Witts for say pick 14 and look to bundle up 7 and 14 for pick 3?

Is Francis the obvious choice for that selection?

Knightmare Do you feel as though we should be asking Aaron Hall's management if he'd fancy a move to Melbourne? We hew we have enough inside grunt, some outside Polish would be nice. I really rate him, I'd love to think that we'd at least ask the question.

I like the idea of Charlie Curnow..

191cm inside mid who can push forward.

Bit of x factor about him.
I've only seen him once. He trained with us in the pre-season. I was trying to work out who it was with the new curly locks. He really stood out as someone who can seriously play.
