With Taz gone, I think a lot will fall on the young shoulders of Travis Cloke. Rusling out of the square, Rocca up the ground after a solid pre-season, Medhurst (can't believe I'm saying it) and Leon at their feet.

T-Clo needs to kick more goals though, could be the key to our success next year I feel. 3rd year, is strong with a booming kick, now is his time.

We're in dire need of a good fast midfielder and another ruck option. I'm thinking that's what we'll look at.

OK he has a strong overhead mark... but what is he? Genuine full-forward?

Medhurst is more of a HFF. He marks about 65 out and delivers well into the 50. That's what he is meant for.

I think the departure of Taz can only help the development of rusling and cloke. When rusling came into the side when Taz was injured he looked alot better then he did when Taz came into the side.
Alot of people were a bit dissapointed with T cloke but I thought when he fought his way back into the side about halfway through the season he came on alot. He was starting to string together some good games included a blinder against the hawks where he looked every bit a future star. If he has a big pre season we could see massive improvement from him.

I have no concerns whatsoever about covering for taz in the forward line. But our midfield and ruck is still a concern. Everyone talks about pacy mids but I think we have gone someway to addressing the pace issue in the past couple of drafts, we just need the likes of thomas,Pendles, Egan etc to develop a bit more. I can also see H shaw joining his mate johno a bit more in the middle and suddenly we won't look as slow. I reckon a ball winning mid with decent skills is just as important if not more important than a quick mid. If we can get one with the package then great but as we know they do not grow on trees.

I won't pretend(like some people) that I know about any of these kids because I have never seem them play. I only hope that the top 10-15 is as good as they say it is. As the only team with 2 top 10 picks it puts us in a good possition.

And for all those supporters who reckon our recruiting team has been piss weak in the past for negotiation I reckon its time to give credit where its due. I get the feeling they had every intention of trading taz but played it out beautifully acting as though we wanted to keep him. I honestly did not think we could get a top 10 pick for him. They did very well.

Jeeez im salivating at the prospect of 2 highly rated guns at the lexus centre in this years draft. Wouldn't mind if we went mid + tall or 2 mids either way i have my heart sent on either selwood, proud, jetta, (if available sellar) leuenberger (same as sellar) and maybe riewoldt but dont know too much about him- have only seen him play once. Future looks very bright and even though everybody thinks in the short term we will fall i think thats a misconception- i think we should be able to make finals again next season even with a list of young talent.

I agree. We got a good deal, so well done to the negotiators. And congratulations to whoever made the big decision to move Taz on. 8 & 10 is exciting. Hopefully Leunberger slips to 8 but I doubt it. We still need some sort of ruck changes between now & round one, but today I have faith.
