He's not a bad player fellas. Didn't set the world on fire but he'll be good if he is coached right. Was pick 12 last year and played 8 games this year. Young Chad Cornes

Has a weird kicking action but is quite quick off the mark. Will be a very handy player down back. Very worthy of the first round pick in a superdraft last year.

Sad to see him go if true:(

I don't believe this but I wonder what others will think. Some saints fans were adamant that they didn't want to give up pick 9 for Fev, now we're apparently using it for Frawley. It seems the value of our pick is fluctuating wildly.

Melbourne don't appear to be a team well stocked with tall defenders so it would be strange if they were to give up such a promising young defender.

you could have probably got Pettifer and 18 for pick 9 and picked up a young defender in the draft. Id be amazed if the saints gave Melbourne pick 9 for Frawley.

I had him (Frawley) in my calculations - but I felt that he went a round early in last year's draft.

He has had a season to build up a fitness base. This does improve his value. I am not sure whether it equates to Pick #9 though.

That's the first thing i thought of also when i heard this rumour.

IF Judd has picked Melbourne, it would seem unlikely that the deal for players/picks has been done.

Once it is announced there would be a lot of clubs trying to get in on the deal with trading players and or picks to Melbourne.

The Dees would have to chuck something else in to sweeten that deal. Frawley is a good young player but Melbourne would be getting Juddy as a result of this deal! We're not in the business of helping out competitors!

I would hope that St.Kilda would hold out for another young player (not Johnstone or Robbo!).

Chuck in Sylvia or Bate & it's a deal!

I thought they changed the rules after the VEAL DEAL between the hawks and bulldogs. I just can't believe the saints rate Frawley as a top 10 pick.
i would take that in a minute he is quick and big unit for a 19 year old better than anything you would get at pick 9 in this draft

You might get an exchange of later picks, I think you're being greedy expecting another young player. This isn't a miracle makeover program.

If we think he is capable of being a long term full back then we would probably accept that deal. However if he is more of a Raph Clarke-type running flanker who can pinch hit as a key defender then we should stay away.

We should keep pick 9 unless it means we get a high quality midfielder, key defender or ruckman in return.

Bate alone is worth pick 9. Any combination of 2 of the 3 would be too much for Melbourne to give up.

I wouldn't trade 9 for Frawley if I was a Saints fan. It seems to be a loss-loss trade until you take into account Melbourne eventually getting Judd. The Saints are essentially drafting a new player who went at a slightly later pick but in a stronger draft. However, it was a surprise that he went that high as he was predicted to go in the 20s. Melbourne gain pick 9 but lose just about their only possible player that they can groom into a FB.

I wouldn't do this trade if it didn't involve us getting Judd as it is unlikely that Rance would still be available at 9.

That's my point Martin...in other circumstances neither melbourne or St.Kilda would do this deal. The fact that you guys look like ending up with Judd changes the playing field. It raises the value of pick 9 significantly and increases what Melbourne would be prepared to give up as well.

That's why I raised the point that Frawley is a good starting point. Adding Sylvia, Bate, etc would get the deal done.

Having said all of that we're just speculating on media speculation.

I can absolutely guarantee you we will not trade pick 9 away, end of story.

A combination of Frawley and Bate or Frawley and Sylvia is worth a lot more than pick 9 even in thee circumstances your descriving

But at the same time, the Judd deal (if actually happening) opens a door for St. Kilda, as Melbourne are now (apparently) considering trading Frawley, which is something they otherwise wouldn't do, especially with the state of our backline. It goes both ways.
