List Mgmt. Pick 9

How about this:

Retain pick 9 and use it on the best available prospect.

Trade our 2020 second for a 2019 second and our 2019 + 2020 3rd round selections for another late 2019 second rounder.

Retain our 2020 first for a trade target :)

Obviously that gives us 3 high picks this year.

But the club has clearly enunciated that their desire is to add mature players to the list.

Your strategy gives us 1 x R1 Pick only next year. Any other additions would have to be FA and DFA.

Not sure the club will go down that track.

True, but how many players do you want to add next year?

A first round selection could easily add two very good players.

I really hope that next year we're only looking at 4-5 changes max including both trade and draft.

Not seen any either as had no interest until realised we still had an earlish pick, we did not expect to still have.

From little I heard from Shifter Sheahan it sounds like Kemp, Serong , Healy or Cody Weightman should be types we consider for pick we have.
Weightman probably expected to be pick more in teens but sounds like specialist smallish forward so if he the best of those types when pick 9 is there, taking him, not a bad idea given we now missed the small forward we wanted that ready made.
Managed to watch a bit of footage today, and I think i'd be leaning towards Kemp to be honest.

There’ll be more changes, Polson to be delisted, Simmo, Betts and Casboult probably to retire.
Williamson, Macreadie & Cunners hardly get on the park? Do you keep Cottrell and Gibbo another year? There lots to consider another big revision I think.

Cunners just signed a three year deal.
Gibbo got better as the year went on. I expect him to be around for a while.
Williamson should definitely be given an extension if he can get his body right. Shown a lot in a short period. Why delist him as soon as he's fit? Kind of pointless :P
Cottrell showed a bit this year. Definitely keep him on if he continues to improve.
Casboult is only 29. Very versatile and a great backup player if our squad develops as planned. Still has 2-3 good years left in him.
Simmo may retire so I'll give you that one.
As for Macreadie and Polson, I'm honestly not sure. Need to see how they progress this year.

Might be against the grain but Port rate Trent Rivers extremely highly.

They are currently working with Freo on a first round pick swap that could see them move into #7, that’s probably too early for him so it wouldn’t surprise me if they went for a Stepens/Kemp selection there and banked on Rivers falling to #18.

The lack of obvious top-end quality apart from Green/Rowell/Anderson might see Kemp retain his pre-draft value and go as early as predicted. Similar situation to Stringer in 2012.

We domt need a wingman what so ever. Obrien fisher cuningham amd martin will play thr wing... we shoulf actually draft a half back flanker because stocker playing middle pmakes more sense when simpson goes i think murph wont be far off
Weightman is a pure small forward, not a wingman. I am not sure what your point is.

My preferred options at the start of the year were Young & Kemp,
Young will likely be gone prior to our pick but should Kemps unfortunate injury see him slide through to our pick, we'll have done quite nicely imo.
He's got good size, athleticism & is really clean in close - a bit of patience would be required to ensure that his knee is rock solid and he'll need to build his tank but his positional flexibility would see him getting games either forward or back as he develops.

I also rate Rivers highly, too 6 actually

Can't see him reaching 18

Port are going to be so much better than adelaide nect year.. people were complainig but lots of youth and some good experiemce.. ned a freesh start witn a new coach

We're not getting Green whichever way you cut it, so whether our pick is #9 or #10 makes absolutely no difference.
If GWS have to use their pick on green it’s one less player taken before our pick, may end up getting a better player.

We’d also have 2021 picks to throw in by the time next year’s trade period comes around.

I wouldn't mind Robertson, another accumulating midfielder like Walsh will be a good thing. None of our young mids aside from Walsh are the accumulating type so having another one along with Walsh would be good.

Kemp looks alright, if he's at our pick then he could be the pick, though I'd like a small forward before another bigger one, even though he's more of a utility.

Anything for Williams? This year seems a write-off. Sore back ended in stress fractures and he’s fallen off a cliff in the rankings. Ended last year on fire as a lethal half forward. Don’t they do a medical and decide whether they can solve? Then isn’t he completely in the frame?

Arrow? Lemmingmaster?

Gone by Pick 9:
Rowell, Anderson, Young, Serong, Green

Possibly still there:
Stephens, Kemp, Ash, Flanders

Still there:
Robertson, Rivers, Weightman

Would love Flanders as he looks like a Papley clone. However Stephens, Ash and Kemp all fill a need as well
I have to say I was disappointed to miss out on Papley. But I am glad the back up plan is pick 9. Looks like many good prospects for us. Thanks to all who are providing insights into these players....
