Flanders, Henry, Weightman. I'm guessing we will end up with one of them?

Think we will end up with a good one all the same and potentially with some more project types.

Hopefully target speed and ability to kick goals and apply pressure.

A midfielder in the draft is probably not necessary unless our recruiting has failed.

Henry will go to Fremantle, they'll match any offers.

Splitting pick 9 for two future 1st would help getting trades through next trade period. Try for Tom take 2, if still keen.

You hope relationship hasn't become strained because of this experience for Papley.

Trading it for a future first has merit, gives us a good hand to hopefully actually seal some big trade/s next year.

Don’t mind this idea.

Flick it across to a club that doesn’t need an early pick next year and obtain a second or third back too.

Splitting the pick also makes sense, but do does cherry picking a player of need at Pick 9, like Flanders.

If Geelong still want to get into the top 10, I’d offer 9 + 43 for 14 and 24. That looks reasonably fair.

Slight unders for us, normally clubs pay slight overs, but certainly an option

If I was doing the deal

Pick 9 + future 1st for 14 + 17 + future 1st. About 300 - 400 points in our favour. Cats get 2 mid round 1sts, we have picks this year in better/less compromised draft, while still holding a position in the 1st round next year

Only problem with next years picks is the high amount of top end talent being linked to FS, Academy, NGA players. If your pick is in the late first round it could drift out.

Only risk being that our 2020 1st may not be mid round and closer to the bottom. We’d have to be confident in our ability to achieve a 10 win season

But with the compromised draft etc, it’s definitely viable.

And if we can get a ready made small forward and possibly a winger with 14 and 17, I’d be wrapped.

Not opposed to idea....

But, split to which picks and then which draftees do we select?
Port probably a possibility if they want to move up, and get back points for Mead (and we had them on the phone for a live swap last year, so theres a clear relationship there....and theyre probably thrilled we didnt go hard after Ollie Wines)
9 + 57 for 18 + 29
9 + 43 + 57 for 12 + 29 + 68 (that late pick will slide in after the academy bids)

Should we retain pick 9.

Tehany My preference, most gifted talent in this draft pool.
Serong X factor, address an urgent need
Flanders Hard nut midfielder, safe pick to add to Stocker and develop.

Some fun, the Pick 9 history. Some decent operators in the previous years.
