List Mgmt. Pick 9

I’ll admit that I’m not a guru when it comes to the draft and I haven’t followed the players as closely as previous years (as I was under the assumption we’d be moving on Pick 9)... but I just don’t get the love for Flanders.

Somebody change my mind, quickly.
He’s a better forward than a mid and most of the vision from this year he is playing as a mid, think Stevie J that’s who Flanders reminds me of.

While I’m at it with the rudimentary questions:

Can somebody point out the key differences in ability between Pickett and Taylor?

Pickett is your classic small forward that will probably end up having bursts in the middle, reminds me a lot of Cyril Rioli. Taylor is more of a medium forward like say a Stephenson, has plenty of X factor and a lot of upside but might take while to develop.

I'd love to select Kemp on his potential alone.

His point of difference from what I can tell is his burst of speed (which may be a question mark following his ACL), and his versatility to play across the ground.

Having said that, I would really like to try and get another pick somewhere between 18-22 to be in the range to take a dynamic type of player like Pickett (get in before Adelaide).

Unfortunately for us it’s looking like Pickett is going to go in the first round now as he has been invited to the opening night of the draft, apparently Bulldogs are right into him and might take him at 13 which is the pick everyone thought they where going to use on Weightman but they obviously rate Pickett as the better small forward, which I do also as he has way more upside imo, just reminds me so much of Cyril the way he moves and plays and the damage he can do with minimal possessions, his hands and footy smarts are elite imo and he has been underrated up until now. Which is bad news for us and especially for me as he was my favourite player for us in the draft and the perfect Eddie understudy. Let’s hope we split 9 with another club maybe Geelong for 14 and 24 but if the Dogs take him at 13 it won’t matter. Not happy

Is it outside the realms of possibility that we take him at #9?

Cyril was taken around that mark back in 2007.

Here’s a left field idea swap #9 to Adel for future #1st #23 and #28.
Use #23 on Dow
Use #28 De Koning
Bringing the 2 brothers together and extra trade bait for next year

Happy to entertain offers for our first pick but that's not a good enough return IMO.

I would want to remain in the first round of this year's draft.

The thing that has made me double look Kemp is his hands. They are much better than I’d realised. I love a non fumbler. A non fumbling quick 192cm player with good skills....

Like, is he actually Patrick Dangerfield and we don’t realise it yet??

Fyfe clone. Play in the midfield and drag his opponent forward to create a mismatch.

I understand why some people would have reservations because he hasn't performed as consistently in the midfield as others to date, but he definitely has all the attributes to be a star of the competition.

Has explosive pace, great mark and clean ball handling below his knees.

Had he not done his ACL, he would have been a top 5 selection guaranteed.

We took Walsh and Stocker as the safe options last year. We've established enough of a core group that we can afford to be a bit more speculative with this pick.

Keep in mind it's a lot easier to find players like Stephens, Ash or Serong than what it is to find a player with Kemp's attributes.

Danger has good skills?

Kemp has midfielders hands. No doubt in my mind he ends up playing majority midfield.

Will be such a weapon... if he can overcome his acl.

Love the work guys.

We're in a really good position in this years draft. It's so even that anyone could fall to our pick. Stephens and Serong could come into consideration too.

However, there's one player no one on our board talks about and that's Fisher McAsey.

We all know SOS loves a KPD and he may well see McAsey as a long term replacement for Jones. This would give McAsey a good 3-4 years to develop in the VFL and come in ready made once Jones retires.

Thanks mate! I'm a big fan of what I've seen from Robertson personally. Looks to be another high character guy. Interesting take with McAsey - I'm not aware of him much.

We can only view drafts as they come up and there will always be players that develop well via each draft, but it's not hard to make a case for seven to eight players from last years draft being better than for what presents here.

I'd likely have Walsh, Rankine, MKing, Smith, Blakely, Rozee and Lukosius before any live player that shows up in this years draft and could possibly add Caldwell and BKing also, with Thomas a little further back.

Remember only two years ago the way Bonar was being talked up? What did he just get traded for? Feel we'll see similarities here.

to learn off eddie betts is a bonus. Strong leader is Caleb too

I think Serong is more of a midfielder that can play forward.

If we drafted him, he would end up being a replacement for Marc Murphy.

I get that people keep using the Robbie Gray comparison. Just not sure that's the player he'll become at the top level.

Serong seems to be sliding. I am no expert but he isn’t my preferred option.

If we keep the pick, give me Stephens or Ash and I will be very happy.
ACL scares me a bit, but there's room for Kemp & a play on Henry too
