Both these players are contracted. Who's to say the Swans don't come out and say we want two first round draft picks for Papely. Port will probably ask for more. The more picks we have the more the clubs will request.I'm for trading it for a future first and a late first/early second in this year's draft. Give us currency for Papley and Wines next year.

)Because we had the explicit primary aim of using this pick to land an established top end player to complement our talented but young list. Would like to see us load up on 2020 currency to maximise the chance of this happening next year. Why? I think he need to draft one more young gun mid and then we will be set.
It felt like your wife was fully watching you write this as you were typing...Whoever we pick, that kid has my full unwavering support.
Well maybe not those 2 exact players. But it really allows us to bring in either 1 absolute gun with 2 1sts and another very good player or the possibilities are endless.I think that’s still very risky. Wines and Papley will still be contracted and someone like Caldwell I can’t see a situation where he will be worth it for us next season. If he does leave a premiership contending team which is firstly unlikely, if he has a poor year do we want him? If he has a good year he will be getting offered way overs by other Victorian clubs like Hawthorn, Cats, Essendon if they lose Daniher ect and hopefully by next year we have improve enough to actually not be one of the clubs willing to do that.
Next year we still have two firsts and a second to trade. Probably players too and if we don’t that’s probably a good thing because it means they are performing and we don’t really need to trade as much as we would otherwise.
Still disappointed from missing out on Papley but having done some research I think we can get a good player at this pick. It looks like it falls in a good range where the talent drops off soon after. We should definitely take the pick and worry about getting Papley and/or Wines in next year.
I can see the following going down:
1) GC- Rowell
2) GC- Anderson
3) GWS- Young (GWS trade 6 and change to Melbourne for 3, pick a replacement for Shaw)
4) GWS- Green (Matched bid)
5) ADE- Flanders/Serong
6) SYD- Flanders/Serong
7) MEL- Ash/Kemp
8) FRE- Robertson
9) MEL- Weightman/Ash/Kemp
10) CARL- Choice between Ash/Kemp/Gould/
.
Why didn’t he get WAFL games?
What do you think about Kemp? Is he a similar type to a Bonar and LDU? Is his best position as a midfielder.
Dylan Stephens for me, check out this guys highlights and tell me he's not what we need... Pendles and whitfield combo!! Pacey, great kick and can find it as well averaging 23 from memory
Hmmm, not sure about that... Definitely quicker then walshy but If he's half as good allround, Id be raptLooks like a bit like a left-footed Sam Walsh ??
We aren’t shy on pulling the trigger for WA talent. It’s just my opinion as I really don’t know, but we seem to have a large network over here in WA.This is a really good summary of the kid
East Fremantle/Western Australia | Balanced Midfielder
30/07/2001 | 189cm | 84kg
It is a good year for East Fremantle, with prospects basically growing on trees, and Rivers is another touted top 30 prospect along with Jeremy Sharp and Luke Jackson. Rivers is a natural-born leader who thrives on the contest and is as consistent as they come, racking up more than 20 disposals in most outings. He loves to tackle and put his body on the line, and is a crucial key to the midfield of Western Australia at the national championships. Unlike a lot of other top-end midfielders this year, Rivers has the size on him, standing at 189cm and 84kg, and readymade for senior football.
Stephens I am pretty sure is from country Vic - Mildura; same place LOB is from but he went to boarding school in Adelaide and playing for Norwood.Still disappointed from missing out on Papley but having done some research I think we can get a good player at this pick. It looks like it falls in a good range where the talent drops off soon after. We should definitely take the pick and worry about getting Papley and/or Wines in next year.

Reckon all four would be good players:
Ash- If he falls to us, it would be hard to turn down. Perfect Simpson replacement with more speed. Reminds me of Yarran a bit with his line-breaking ability.
Kemp- Haven't seen much of but from all reports is highly talented and obviously went down with an ACL so could be a steal.
Gould- I think his mix of mongrel/size/pace/kicking would be brilliant at AFL level and would fit in well at the Blues. Reminds me of Jeremy McGovern with speed. Downside is he is from SA and adds to our stack of Key Defenders. I actually think he would be an upgrade on Jones/Plowman in time.
Stephens- Great speed, reminds me so much of Stephen Hill. Good player but I think he is too similar to LOB for us. SA origin too.
Yeah, it’s been reported that they are looking at trading pick 6 and future first for pick 3 from Melbourne to avoid this scenario.Question - if someone bids on Green before pick 6, GWS have to use 6 to help match the bid...right?
As long as he's not too one paced. We need some speed in the middle. Only Dow has the acceleration out of all our young mids.We aren’t shy on pulling the trigger for WA talent. It’s just my opinion as I really don’t know, but we seem to have a large network over here in WA.
Working my way through footage.
So far I like Stephens, Kemp, Ash and Jackson.
True getting Martin for nothing certainty helps. Gives another opportunity to get a young gun.Because we had the explicit primary aim of using this pick to land an established top end player to complement our talented but young list. Would like to see us load up on 2020 currency to maximise the chance of this happening next year.
Google, YouTube.Where are you getting footage?
Yeah, it’s been reported that they are looking at trading pick 6 and future first for pick 3 from Melbourne to avoid this scenario.
I’d rather see how TDK comes along before we draft another ruckman.Would SOS have any interest in Luke Jackson?
