If that is the case, seems we are more likely to have access to our desired player in Serong as per TCP's rumour.Best available? I'd say Robertson/Stephens at 7/8 if I were a betting man (providing Crows don't pounce on Stephens first). One local Larke Medalist and one outside gun ready to go.

Anyone have any insight as to who Freo is likely to take at 8? What are their needs?
Not sure who else they will be looking at but I am pencilling in Robertson at one of those two selections.
I'm feeling a Robertson/Stephens combo.
It will be either Robertson/Stephens or/ Robertson/Serong IMO.
Would absolutely expect us to bid on Henry at our pick now.

Twomey reporting that they like Serong also.
I actually think this improves the chances of Kemp at #9.
He could also be the next Scotty Camporeale for us.Stephens is so slight of body tho and could be the next James Aish
1. GC - Rowell
2. GC - Anderson
3. Mel - Jackson
4. GWS - Young/Ash
5. GWS - Green (matching bid)
6. Syd - Flanders
7. Ade - McAsey
8. Fre - Robertson
9. Fre - ?
10. Car - ?
11. Mel - ?
Stephens, Kemp and Serong in some configuration? They look to be the clear next tier. Unless Melbourne are shuffling back due to their interest in Weightman.h
As
I think the suggestion was purely that they will take one of those two players. But you are absolutely correct that it opens those players up to the potential of falling to us.GWS don't get both Ash & Young at 4/ so add 1 of these 2 to the mix
Not many teams would be looking to match with early seconds. Picks in the 30-45 range is what we should be looking at. If we are trading out our second, trying to get back third rounders as steak knives is where the real value is.Just add the points up.
We come out 170 points ahead in a worst case scenario, which would be Pick 19. With GC already having a PP, it's actually 212 points ahead, for Pick 20.
The higher above 18th we finish the further ahead we come, although it doesn't matter too much at that point in time.
I'm not a fan of swapping our future second for one this year. I know next year's draft is "compromised", but that just means there are going to be a stack of clubs wanting second rounders to use on matching bids. Every chance we can use our second to good effect on the trade table next year.
Aish has been a brilliant on baller at every other level unfortunately. He is an on baller stuck in a back pocket's body, Menadue from Richmond has a similar problem. Stephens will be a career wing/high hf more like PolecStephens is so slight of body tho and could be the next James Aish
Don’t do that BH my heart just did a back flip, except Bulldogs at 13 are into Bergman, better trade for us would be with Port for12 & 18 but then if we take Bergman at 12 Dogs would take Pickett at 13 doh.Simple, trade down with Cats, pick 9 and future 2nd for picks #14 and 17.....select Bergman and Pickett, and we'll be a happy lot of punters.

It’s the teams with a hand like Richmond has this year who could benefit the most next year.
edit. An example would be trade our future second and 43 to Freo for their 22 and their future 3rd and 4th then on trade the future picks with maybe our future third and get back about 20 again next year.
You end up turning roughly ~24,~43 and ~43 into 22 and 22. Plus get the earlier pick this year that could be handy.
Now Freo has a choice of Young/ Ash; whoever GWS didn't pick up at #41. GC - Rowell
2. GC - Anderson
3. Mel - Jackson
4. GWS - Young/Ash
5. GWS - Green (matching bid)
6. Syd - Flanders
7. Ade - McAsey
8. Fre - Robertson

And Charlie has just decided to keep Kemp company in the injury wardIf we keep 9, gotta feel Kemp is our guy. I'd love Stephens if he's there and maybe he will be high on our draft board. But I reckon with where we're at and how we've seen him close quarters in pre-season, we'll take the risk and he'll be top 5 in our list. Would probably take a Young to drop to us to make us reconsider.
As always, I'd LOVE to see what our current board is looking like.

1. GC - Rowell
