Already have setterfield its point less and walsh isnt short will be too slow of a midfield pace pace pace

I can see why people would think this, but you can counter this with pace on the flanks.

I personally rate the Western Bulldogs midfield as the best in the competition when they're firing on all cylinders. Just have a look at these match ups in terms of like for like players:

Macrae vs Setterfield
Dunkley vs Cripps
Bontompelli vs Kemp
Hunter vs O'brien
Libba vs Stocker
Smith vs Dow
Wallis vs say Walsh

Not many teams have a heap of leg speed in the middle of the ground. Teams that do tend to be inconsistent because they play a greater number of outside players such as Essendon.

The way I see it, your seven mids need to be ball winners. The rest of the playing group need to bring a diverse range of skills and attributes to elevate the group into premiership contention.

Don't get me wrong i get what your saying but its just too tall of a team with three keys each end and massive mids

Setterfield isn't a threat forward or back like Kemp is though. He's similar to Bont in the way he can be a 3rd or 4th tall at either end if need be. IMO if he's there and the no-brainer picks are gone, he's my pick of the bunch.

Yeah but we are so slow out of the middle already

Once Dow, Fish and SPS develop to the point where they can play full time mid we definitely won't be, and Kemp's burst is actually pretty impressive.

EDIT: Look at his run at about 22 secs in this vid, pretty quick for a big bodied mid:

Dogs will end up with the same structure including three key talls:

Bruce
Naughton
Schache

But yes, I do at times have the same reservation about how tall we go into some of our rounds.

I've got Adelaide taking Kemp in my Phantom. They like bigger bodied players generally and they got a couple of small players they needed last year. They also develop players well. And because they are now sort of rebuilding, they don't desperately need immediate impact.

Yes, given they finally realise a few years too late, the premiership window was bolted shut , they need to invest in future. Kemp would be a good choice for them. But if clubs let him slip to our pick, I will be more than happy to take him, given what I heard of him.

Wouldn't mind Jackson. Forward ruck duo with dekoning could be dangerous when we are starting to peak as a team.
When was the last land of the giants premiership forward line ?

McKay, De Konning, Curnow and another tall you want, even though we got Jack and MiniMcGov too ???

nah, we need to bolster our small forward stocks around the talls we already have and can never have too much depth in midfield and quick backs.
Another tall forward is not a need at all with our pick 9.

Adelaide have Sloane, Gibbs, the Crouch brothers. All 1 paced. They need speed and run. Someone who will carry the ball. Will kemp provide this?

Read my post again. It is about context of their future. Not next year. Gibbs will be gone by time Kemp is up and running. Sloane will be in his last few years too. They need to build for future, not 2020 and 21.

Great player, prefer Rivers though
Arr0w how do you rate Dylan Stephens? and should we take him ahead of Rivers, Ash, Kemp, etc.?

I read somewhere that Port want to trade up to our Pick 9 to get Stephens.

Edit: here’s where I read it:

Port Adelaide are pretty keen on Dylan Stephens and are looking to move up the order. We may downgrade our first for their first plus second rounder and get Martin with the second rounder. Melbourne are making us nervous if he goes to the PSD.

Jackson shaped as best ruck prospect since Grundy. I have however cooled on the prospect. Rucks are getting bigger and bigger. 200cm is now small for a ruck. Info during the season had Jackson at 198cm, post combine is listed at 197cm. Conceivably stopped growing when it was hoped he would add another few cms. Also did much better at running leaps than standing in the testing. May just get monstered by some big boys at top level. Read big risk, would not be surprised if he is a "slider".

Adelaide still have a strong core group of older players. They are not in the position Carlton were when Sos started the rebuild. There footy department has indicated as much.

Talented, nice blend of in and out, but small, so wouldn't take him ahead of the others
