Random thought on Ash:

YES he does seem to run himself into trouble a bit. However unlike most guys who play that role and get in trouble he’s actually strong and strongly built. So when he occasionally gets caught after those long runs he gets it off. And that skill will continue to give him confidence to keep backing himself.

Possibly the most intriguing player of the draft.

I don’t think they are good enough to justify what we’d have to do to get there. Would have to be next year’s does for and 9.

Something about Flanders though. He’s really got ‘it’ for mine. He just ‘knows’. Whoever gets him should be very excited.
Flanders reminds me of Stevie J same attributes same short legs long body which gives him good balance.

Daicos was the king of long body, strong short legs. Lethal Leigh another example. Even The Duck was similar. Darcy Fog at the Crowbots a bit similar.

Hell, get Flanders lol.

Nah, but he is an intriguing one Flanders. Could easily be the one that goes at 3, or he could get to 9 at a stretch.

Mate if he was still there at 9 I would wet my pants with excitement, would be an absolute steal at our pick and would add some real flair for us at half forward to start and later some good midfield minutes, don’t get my hopes up cause they will be absolutely shattered come Draft day when he goes at 3-4. Will have a Stephenson type impact in his first year imo just has that ability to impact games.

Also:

Sam De Koning. Like....actually. In my view should be a top 20. Is extremely athletic. Very good hands below knees. Good skills. Good closing speed. Gets a fist in to spoil. Intercept marks.

3-4 years in the gym and look out.

That's just another random observation, yeah, not a suggestion we should take him?

Luke Jackson if we go tall, just can’t go past him at 9 and if small forward with precious talent, pressure and pace it’s Liam Henry.
Brodie Kemp if it’s versatility and skill at 192/3 cm type physique.

There’s always the chance that internally we rate a player or two extremely highly with the vision of them having huge upside more than some that will be selected by clubs before us that we don’t rate as highly, if that situation somehow was true then turning 9(10) into two selections that help land you who you rate would be the clever way to do it. Just a thought 💭...

Yeah just an answer to FB’s request for under rated players. I really like him. I wasn’t actually watching him (was focused on Kemp etc) but across the games he just kept impressing me. He’s actually a natural footballer. I wouldn’t take him but I’m very confident whoever gets him will be pleasantly surprised.

His endurance and work rate need to lift immensely. Richmond spotted it in his 18th year, now it's up to Russell and him to boost it to AFL standard.

He certainly does have something about him though. His foot skills and power out of clearances hard to come by
If his pace is better, skill’s say 50% less and has 50% less mongrel than Diesel as soon as he’s fit I’d play him...don’t need to be quick....play him between the HB/HF lines....work on his awareness..be decisive (he’ll make mistakes short term)...baring injuries he will mature like a good bottle of red and leave us all with smiles.

Wasn't there talk of GWS coming in with a trade for pick 3?

Might be a good option for the Demons to pick up Jackson a little later.

I think so - I missed a bit of it but I think he might have said Melbourne will try and split pick 3 into Pick 14 and something else and hope to pick Jackson lasts to Pick 14 ??

Was merely illustrating ...… Pick 9 is no certainty as time has shown ....
Agree with you, but then not much in life is certain. Silvagni has to drop the risk aversion and be unorthodox once in a while.
We’ve witnessed several 1st picks not fill their potential it’s certainly not easy, due diligence and exhaustive process is all we can demand.

We had no idea about Stocker did we? ITKs kept that one under wraps well.

If both Kemp and Jackson are off the board at our pick, it probably means one of Ash or Serong have slipped through.

We're in the sweet spot to pick up one of the remaining top end talents in this years draft.
