List Mgmt. Pick 9

If both Kemp and Jackson are off the board at our pick, it probably means one of Ash or Serong have slipped through.

We're in the sweet spot to pick up one of the remaining top end talents in this years draft.
It's funny, 12 months ago I'd have said a big No to Ash. But hid attacking instincts and other attributes may really suit Teaguey's style of play. He's still down my list of guys I think we should take. But he looks to have a few wheapons that we'd love to have. Bit of Yarran dash in there that makes the heart flutter.

We had no idea about Stocker did we? ITKs kept that one under wraps well.
For sure... Definitely had the element of surprise on the night and looking like a clever and well thought out decision, gut feeling is maybe we're in for another SOS lateral planned master stroke..

I doubt we'll use 9 unless one of our top 5 or 6 is there.
Otherwise swapping out for 2x top 20 picks should yield say 2x top 15 rated which would be a better return.
For all that i know we very well just use it on somebody that is still there on the night that we really rate or we are thinking more about a very talented individual/s that we rate highly but can be gained by splitting picks and still landing him/them?

I think so - I missed a bit of it but I think he might have said Melbourne will try and split pick 3 into Pick 14 and something else and hope to pick Jackson lasts to Pick 14 ??
So he's suggesting that despite Melbourne selling the farm for Pick 8, they will now trade away pick 3 for 14 and pick 20 next year?

Seriously, what is wrong with these idiots?

Geard Healy just on 3AW really rating Ash and also saying Melbourne very keen on Luke Jackson but not really wanting to take him at Pick 3 ?

Sounds like they may want to take Ash with pick 6 from GWS and Jackson with pick 8. Or potentially the other way around depending on other club's interest in the players.

Mind you, there's a lot of smoke and mirrors around this time of the year.

Funny you say this because I'm thinking the exact opposite, I fully believe that we will use pick 9.
There was just something in the way SOS spoke about it being plan B, that made me feel like he already had it spent.

Got a gut feel that Brodie will slide to us due to the combination of the unclear best ground position and ACL injury , these issues may just make it happen.
He’s got some big upside after season 2021 and onwards, recovered and working on his athleticism.

It wouldn't surprise me to see GWS get Green with Pick 6. It also wouldn't surprise me to see them let someone else nab him with their eyes set on Luke Jackson at 6.

It will be very difficult for them to get both. First they have to get that earlier pick and then they have to have the points to cover the second high pick. Will be difficult i think. They haven't got their usual high amounts of picks this year or next year yet.

I won't be shocked to see em content to keep 6 and be happy to nab either Green or more likely Jackson.

We need pretty much one of everything. A small forward, ruck, midfielder and running defender.

We're going to pick up something we want.
Would like to see SOS go for some X factor in this years draft, someone to excite the crowd and get the heart pumping, have been fairly conservative in previous drafts and I think now is the time to add some flair. “Kossie”, could see myself screaming that at the top of my lungs as he gathers from the spill side steps one and blind turns another and snaps truly from 30, oh yeah baby bring it on SOS.

Yeah I wouldn’t mind Ash although the more I think about it i believe that Doc, if he comes back alright, will team really well with Newman across half back, I think we will be pleasantly surprised how well these two will play together and I reckon they will become a very damaging dynamic duo across halfback and will team well when launching our attacks, if you look at there stats they are very similar in terms of the way they play which I believe will be a boon for us going forward.

FWIW - I think MEL bid on Green at 3. He’s the consensus 3rd best player in this draft. That forces GWS hand and they pick him. MEL then go Young. ADE surprise and go local with Stephens. SYD go best player in Flanders. FRE take chance on Jackson. MEL go Ash. We bid on Henry but FRE match. We select Serong. Inside mid who can go forward. Perfect.

Why would Melbourne get both Young and Ash? It's been well known that they are looking for a small forward with one of their picks, so unless they REALLY rate Weightman, I can't see Serong getting past them at 8.

Add Kemp & GC#1, GC#2
... are there any of these top 10 players that we wouldn't be happy with? We are in a sweet spot :D

Maybe 9 isn’t such a bad pick after all. If someone drops through we like (Eg: Kemp) then it’s a win. If there’s no one there we really love I think we should trade with Freo. 9 for 10 and a second, maybe we give a third back. If we rate the next few picks the same (reasonable chance of that) then why not. For Freo the risk of us bidding on Henry would be too high. Would mean they have to use 10 on him. Trade with us (love) and it secures 3 genuine first rounders for them and really moves along their rebuild.

I like this idea ...
