We may need to throw our pick in the 50's as well for them to make up the points for Henry.
Intriguing.........10cp posted 'Henry', so either we're looking to draft him regardless, or use the system to our advantage by potentially making a bid for him, basically calling Freo's bluff to trade with us in order to mitigate the risk.
You do wonder though if they would be prepared to divulge who they are looking at picking at pick #9 before the trade is done....although I'd be fairly confident they'd be looking at Jackson if he were still available.
Demons have been making the same noises about Jackson, possibly calling Freo's bluff, but you can't really see them selecting him given they have Gawn and Preuss.

There was an article on the AFL page the night before stating we were keen on Henry, the next day there was another article in one of the papers stating the same and then 10cp posts it afterwards and people get excited. Cmon.

Here is my take on how the draft will go if there is no trades with in the top 10.
Rowell and Anderson pick 1&2
Pick 3 Melbourne will go with Young
Pick 4, 5 and 7 Adelaide, Sydney and Freo need speed and will pick Flanders, Ash and Stephens
There will be a bid on Green by either Melbourne, Adelaide or Sydney and GWS will match and use pick 6.
Pick 8 Melbourne are really keen on Jackson
At this point I think we should bid on Henry and Freo will match.
Leaves us to pick either
Serong as the slider in this draft. I don't understand why everyone is picking him as a slider. The only think I can think off is its attitude.
Kemp an injured slider. Been compared to Cripps but is probably more like a downgrade of C.Curnow.
Robertson some people have him in the back end of the first round but for me, I think he is perfect fit for us, as he and Stocker would be upgrades on Ed and Murphy when they retire.
McAsey is my Smokey for the top 10.

Sometimes sliders happen because the clubs with the picks just happen to rate one person higher at that point, or are reaching for a need. If that happens multiple times in a row you get a slider.
They're only sliding relative to earlier expectations which probably says more about the expectations than the player
Yep, sometimes sliders aren't really sliders, for numerous reasons.

Yeah he is the perfect replacement for Ed as he has all the same attributes including the poor kicking which worries me, whether he can improve in this department is anyone’s guess, he even looks a bit like Ed same curly hair, suntan, same build all he is missing is the bat shit crazy facial expressions.
But seriously I wouldn’t be disappointed if we took Robbo would be able to add to our midfield straight away and a midfield of Cripps, Walsh, Stocker, Robertson, Dow, Fish, SPS, Gibbo, Setters, LOB, Newnes, Cunners, Kennedy, Martin and JSOS is some serious depth going forward 15 of them and all young with huge potential.

We don't necessarily need like for like replacements.
But, I think we have a few players who can step in those roles, if required
Ed = JSOS, others?
Murphy = Fisher, Stocker or maybe even Setters
Btw, my preferred order is still:
A. Ash, Stephen's, Henry and then Kemp
B. If not A above, then trade pick #9

A slider only exists relative to a pre-defined draft board and is specific to that ranking system (i.e club) only.
Sliders cannot be extrapolated nor compared.

I’m a fan of the idea but I’m not sure of the likelihood of Freo paying that price to move up one spot. As soon as we offer the trade, they know, we aren’t fully committed to Henry, we aren’t going to pick Henry at 9 if we have others ahead of him, I’m not sure we can be that convincing.

It's not really just moving up one spot though..it's getting a player they really rate as well as Henry. It also doesn't mean we aren't fully committed to Henry, just means we like the idea of having an extra early second round pick as equally appealing
Gould is a classic slider. Performance warrants a top 5 selection but everyone is now starting to focus on the negatives. Could be the value pick of the draft (or end up delisted in 3 years like Collins)
Really warming to Henry, he’s exactly what we need in the small forward role and will get to learn from Eddie

If Freo picked up another player, let's say Jackson, how will it affect them if we bid for Henry at #9...
This will weigh up whether they would match or not
They would be forced to use pick 10 on him
