List Mgmt. Pick 9

If stephens and young are gone, I would rather stretch for a player that fills a need than pick Serong. I am not seeing it with Serong at pick 9. He looks an 18 to 25 pick. Height, disposal, pace, what is his elite quality?
Seems like it would be "footy".
The kid can really football.

Plenty of premiership players without an "elite" quality other than can football.
Pendlebury, Hodge, Swan, Barry, that West Coast bloke that kicked the winning goal, Ellis, Butler... Grigg even. Half the Bulldogs list.
And hard to believe that players like Ablett Snr an d Buckley never won a flag.

Anyway here's hoping that whoever we end up with helps bring us that next premiership as a Carlton player

Relax, pane my boy. Stephens is our man. I have willed it to happen.

Serong is our man, heck even Billy Joel made a song about him :)

👍👍👍

Who the analysts have us picking at #9....

Herald Sun - Stephens
AFL.COM (Cal Twomey) - Stephens
The Age - Stephens
FoxSports - Serong
Draft Central - Serong (although Stephen still available)
Knightmare (ESPN) - Ash (although Young still available)

Bamboo Harvester - Jack Daniels (think I'll need one tomorrow nite) :thumbsu::):wineglass:

Underwhelmed by our apparent potential picks at 9. Not Boekhorst levels of under whelm by any means, but underwhelmed nevertheless.

Guess i'm left to hoping McAsey slips and Cats or GC come with 14 and 17/24 or 15 and 20. Apparently we've already knocked back 15 and 20 but that might change on the night if our preferred picks have gone before 9.

Think at this stage i'd like 2 picks at the cherry rather than 9 alone, considering at this stage i'd probably prefer who's left at 14/15 than who we're likely to spend 9 on. Serong and Stephens don't grab me. Not as Top 10's anyways.

Do you realise Boekhorst has nominated for the draft this year....true dinks.

I've got the list of the 800 odd players who have nominated for this year's draft....some interesting names there

Well Rogers is a pro scout for Brissy. Guess Blaine thought he'd try for miracle No.2.

Sydney, Adelaide and Fremantle are all considering him from picks 5-8 so he must be somewhere in that range on their boards.

Still can't believe that Kemp could slide to Geelong or Gold Coast with picks 14 & 15.

I will be praying for Young.
I really want Stephens
I will be happy with Serong
I quite like Robertson.

But I am secretly hoping for some final SOS shenanigans that throws the draft into disarray, letting us profit from other teams' desperation....
McAsey gets through to 9 we will see some big offers come our way and I suspect we will take one of them, would be a great result for us in terms of maximising our draft hand. Can’t wait

Once Dow builds his body and tank (which should come in time), he'll be able to dominate contests without even kicking the football.
Problem is his greatest asset is his break away speed from the contest so really needs to tidy up his kicking, can’t burst from the contest and then handball inside 50, although Danger just kicks it long from his breakaways to mask his poor disposal.

Sounds like we are basically locked into either Stephens or Serong based on what Adelaide and Freo do. Either way we will have great pick and will be ready to go next year.

Leaning slightly towards Stephens due to his athleticism, pure speed, decision making and clean disposal. Has proven himself against senior bodies. Definitely in the Josh Kelly/Stephen Hill mould.

Serong however would bring a real presence and some mongrel to our forward line. I feel he oozes leadership, hits the scoreboard regularly and knows how to find the ball. I see elements of his game that remind me of Robbie Gray and Toby Greene.

Tough decisions to be made by the recruiting team. Either way Ill be stoked to see one of them pull on the navy blue tomorrow night!

So if we select Serong or Stephens tomorrow nite....and we happen to jag Jack M in the psd...the additions to our list from last year could be...

Serong/Stephens
Martin
Newnes
Eddie
Pitto
Webb

Throw Doc in with these, and all could potentially be in our starting line up in round 1...with the exception of big Pitto and Webb.

Again, we salute you SOS....now just make sure you get the lower picks right this year ;)
