Maybe too good of an outcome but if these points are true -

1. GC desperate for another top 10 pick.
2. We really rate Kemp (I know we do and if he's going to be there at #15)
3. GC may lose #11 if they don't use it. (I still don't understand how they can have it to trade this year but may not have it next year)

If all those factors happen to be there, then that's the favoured outcome I'd like for the CFC.
Two first rounders next year could be a real bonus for us to use on players that may complete us.
Don't worry about the players you can't get your hands on next year. That stands for relatively little when executing trades.

True true. I really like him as a footballer. I'd nearly take him at pick 1 as I know that you can build a midfield around him so when I see other clubs not bidding at 5 my mind is blown.

Curious though, how much of that viewpoint is founded on external comparisons to Cripps because he's a big, contested mid?

I see more Cripps over Wines and Yolmen. His hands and use of body inside is Cripps like. He is going to be pretty bloody good. If I had an aging Josh Kennedy in my midfield and my club didn't bid on Greene I'd throw such a ridiculous hissy fit

Yeah, I see what you mean. Though if a bid doesn't come til 10, it's also Adelaide, Freo and Carlton choosing not to bid, and the first two are certainly in need of elite contested mids for the future as well.

Just seems to me that the hype was media-driven, and the reality is that the clubs with early picks don't rate him quite as highly. But who knows, maybe it's just that nobody from those clubs wants to discuss Green with anyone given they know they won't land him, and as such Twomey has gone with a conservative bid at Pick 10. Still entirely possible a bid comes from Adelaide, Freo or Carlton. Personally, I think Freo will call out his name.

If Melbourne, GWS and Sydney are all to stupid to not pick up Young then we should trade with Adelaide to swap pick 9 for pick 6. Freo will 100% take Young he is the type of player they need.

Adelaide trade picks 6, 23,45 and our future 4th for pick 9 and our future 1st.

Adelaide then have 3 first round picks next year and can still pick up McAsey.

We can pick up Young (6), De Koning (23) and with 43 and 45 get the best 2 small forwards at those picks hopefully Taylor and Taheny

This gives us Simpson replacement, 2x De Koning to take over from Kreuzer and give us 2 small forwards to lean from Betts.

Pick 9 this year and our future 1st for 6 and some junk. Nooooo thanks. We need as many picks in the 1st and 2nd rounds in 2020 as we can for trades

And let's be honest, while their concessions are up for review each year, there's no way the AFL will strip #11 from them next year.
They might lose some of their concessions in 2021, if they're going better than expected.

Don't think it's just for Serong (and sounds like we'd take him and not trade if he's still on the board). Suns have been public about wanting to package #15 + #20 for a higher pick.

We don't know the whole story with Wines. Just because he was available doesn't mean we overpay for him. Port would have been asking for a kings ransom. I wouldnt be prepared to pay that just because he is there. Cogs was also a free agent.

My critique is that in supporters minds next year is always going to be the year. It invariably turns out that way.

In fairness, I wouldn't at all be surprised to see Swans or Crows take him. Reckon Young, Serong or Stephens about the only guys we take at 9 - otherwise a trade down is likely.
