World Series Cricket in the period 1977-79 consisted of three teams-WSC Australia, West Indies and the World.

Who would make it into a combined side featuring the players from that era?

My team:

1. Bruce Laird (Aust)
2. Barry Richards (World)
3. Viv Richards (WI/World)
4. Greg Chappell (Aus)
5. Clive Lloyd (WI/World-capt)
6. Mike Proctor (World)
7. Rod Marsh (Aus-wk)
8. Derek Underwood (World)
9. Dennis Lillee (Aus)
10. Michael Holding (WI/World)
11. Joel Garner (WI/World)

12. Albert Padmore (WI/World)

That's not a bad effort but I'd like to find a way to fit Imran Khan and Andy Roberts in there.

Good side, but as others said you must have Andy Roberts in that side. No way was Garner better than him at that point in time. That's a fairly useful 2, 3 and 4. Australia found out how good 2 and 3 were at Gloucester Park alone.

That was the 4th SuperTest of the 1977-78 WSC season at Gloucester Park. The World's Barry Richards and Gordon Greenidge shared a 1st wicket stand of 369. Greenidge made 140. Viv Richards came in and smashed 177, Barry Richards a masterly 207. After a day-and-a-half's play, The World were 1/461, ended up making 625. Dennis Lillee took 4/149, Gary Gilmour 1/141, Ray Bright 5/149. Max Walker's figures were 0/115.

Always remember looking at that scorecard when I was a kid and thinking 'glad I wasn't bowling to those guys'. Scary when you consider that Greenidge and Viv hadn't even peaked then.
