Opening up the draft hand for clubs to hoard picks really helps with two academy players here.

A 4th round pick next year which at best for Adelaide would be the same value as the 4th they traded to us with their 3rd, it's a great deal for us.

Looks to me like they are taking four picks in the draft and don't rate their academy players above pick #40 which they might also flog for capital elsewhere

Otherwise picks 56 and 66 would've been forfeited. Freo need points for their academy player(s). Unfortunate circumstances to get those picks in and then not be able to use them properly.

In reality, this year's draft might only have 45 picks in the national draft.

that maybe so due to various reasons.

So on average. Most teams will recruit 3-4 kids on draft night leather than the usual 5-6 guys
