No need to worry about using 29 on Mead now.


EDIT: Without reading too much into it and trying to think motives, I assume the club thinks that clubs wont bid on Mead ahead of pick 16. So giving up 29 is almost a free hit ... the 2020 first rounder puts a fair bit of pressure on us to not finish low on the ladder.

And we gave them Pick 29 for Picks 52 and 55.

52 and 55 = 453, plus we have other later picks (66, 67, 68, 71) with 237 points attached. Depending on how many picks we need to take (I can't remember), it feels like we are fine.

690 points worth of late picks there ..... allows us to match 860 points (with a 20% discount)... which is roughly pick 22 give or take given earlier bids.

Unless we absolutely shaft some other team is a deal involving 16 and 12 for a higher pick, this deal is bad.

Best case scenario (we finish top 4): we're giving up 2020 pick 16(ish) + 2019 pick 29 for 2019 pick 16. So in that best case scenario we've given away pick 29 for nothing.

The lower we finish next year, the worse this trade gets. Horrendous in isolation.

Many recruiters don’t rate next years draft, very compromised on top of that, more than likely we rate a pick 16 this year better then a top 10 draft pick next year

proof will be in the pudding. Won’t know if this was a success until 6-7 years in the future

you guys obviously have a very specific player in mind as you are building up a big warchest to trade up. I tip my hat to your club in this way, they don't hang around and wait if they want something and they are prepared to gamble to get it. Our club sits there with a poker face and then is left sucking its thumb in the main when nothing happens (apart from the carlton pick swap last year)
