sorry to intrude on your board but I recall you had some info on Lukosius a while back. For the SA teams could it be read that with port trading out of next years 1st round, maybe they think that there is no chance Lukosius may be tempted back to Adelaide in the near term and are happy to run with just their F/S and NGA picks in the main?Pick 13 + 29 for pick 16 + Mead + Schofield + Jones for shit picks is a win any way you look at it.
If the status quo remains im happy with it. If we go and trade 12 and 16 for 9 and 50 or something silly then ill be less happy

the view that trading 29 makes this deal worse without highlighting that it would get chewed up if we didn't do something with it (which some seem to be suggesting) is a greater crime IMO.
I mean it literally is because you straight up presume that your ‘criminal’ doesnt believe we should trade pick 29 or else why would it be eaten up by Mead?I'm not sure that's what I claimed TBH.
What has Schofield and Jones got to do with the equation of this trade?
We gave up potentially pick 10 in 2020 which could turn into pick 13 as you suggested for Brisbane to use.
We still have to find say pick 10 and 20 to draft Schofield + Jones if their form hold up in 2020, and we didn't get anything from Brisbane to help do that.
I'm happy to see this as giving up Pick 13+29 to get pick 16+Mead, but that is the full extent of the equation for this trade.
and trigger Hinkley's extra yearWe better finish at least top 8 next year otherwise Brisbane pulled off a heist!
lol Macca19 more ‘eaten up’ excuses that ignore the vast trading options we can pursue when trading picks
You still gotta find the points whether you have pick 8-15 or its traded out. So to me its irrelevant to what happens in 2020 and Schofield and Jones aren't part of this swap equation.Because moving out of a pick 8-15 ensures that it doesn't get eaten up with one of those bids, so it remains relevant.
I can see us trading away our first round pick if there's a chance either of those two are bid on prior to it.Ive heard one recruiter call next year ‘potentially the worst ever’ plus the fact there are a lot of nga picks. What we’ve done is ensure, at the moment, that we get Schofield and Jones for not a whole lot, which is good.
If we land on pick 10, similar to this year, that probably gets pushed out to 13 or 14 at the moment anyway.
Its really a decent deal
You are making the assumption that these other options werent explored
This admin? 100%Do you think they wouldn’t have explored these vast trading options prior to pulling the trigger?
The AFL lystics guys did a podcast on the 2020 draft, out to pick 25 I think. They think the level of compromise of the next draft is overstated.Because moving out of a pick 8-15 ensures that it doesn't get eaten up with one of those bids, so it remains relevant.

29 has value 100% independent of Mead UNLESS you are making the broad assumption that everyone speaking against this trade also wants us to keep 29It literally doesn't, it refers to overselling the value that pick 29 held to us... it makes no reference to people saying don't trade it.
And others would justify us doing the oppositeif we traded in pick 1 for pick 2, some here would still find a way not to like it.
Trade 29 out of this draft so it doesn't get eaten up in a Mead bid match, into getting something a bit earlier in next years draft so it can get eaten up in a Schofield bid. Now thats something that feels very PORTS.Except doing that acts as implies we had zero other moves for 29
eg. 18 and 29 for 16 and something. Trade 29 into next year. Trade 29 and our future 2nd round into a first.
So many option that didnt put our 2020 first round pick on the line.
So 6 first round picks in 2 years and all it took was finishing 10th twice, trading away our 2020 1st round pick and trading Wingard, Polec and Howard.
