Traded Pick swap: Sydney trade #31 to Carlton for #48 and a 2021 R3 (Carl)

Wow Sydney is good at this .

You get an early 30’s pick next year too you’ve done well. Basically you’ve swapped a pick you won’t use till next season where you will or at least it provides you draft capital

It's an interesting move from Carlton to trade from 48 to 31 when it looks like a lot of the pick between those pick will get eaten up by bids.
Dogs - 33, 41, 42
Sydney - 34, 37, 43
Port - 35, 47
Freo - 32
Hawks - 45, 46

If all those picks get used on bids pick 48 could become pick 37.

Pick 37 and a future 3rd for pick 31. It'll look worse after academy selection as well.

Prefer Sydney future 3rd , but Carlton 3rd still ok .

Carlton's future third at worst is circa 37 if they get the spoon. A mid table finish makes it more like 47.

I reckon we would have been better served just doing the future 3rd for pick 37 and seeing what happens on draft night - but wouldnt be shocked if Gold Coast werent keen on trading with us.

Some of those picks might be traded out for later picks. A good point you make though.

Good point. 37 could become 33 after bids and you're still left with 48. But you raise another good point about GC maybe not being keen.

and Campbell. Netted us an extra 180 points or so, which isn't much but it could be the difference between going into deficit next season and paying off Campbell and Gulden in one hit this year.
Depend on where the Bid come for Gulden i won't be surprise Sydney might trade future 2nd to GCS for pick 27.

That is possible. We would not want to go into deficit next year as we are likely going to have a good pick in next years draft.

I’d rather go into deficit than trade our second next year. Can see our third though.

Expect we will finish 17th next year ahead of North, so will start with pick 2
