SOS must be pretty happy with how the picks from the Crows and Bulldogs are going. It’s making that Gibbs trade look very good for us.

If the ladder stays the same, the two trades (with the Crows and Bulldogs) pretty much did this:

Out

Gibbs
Pick 19
Pick 37
Pick 40

For

Pick 10
Pick 23
Pick 26
Pick 28 (Matt Kennedy)
Pick 30

On points that values Gibbs between pick 2-3.

Which is an insane deal if TDK continues developing according to his current trajectory, LOB already looks a long-term player, Kennedy has shown signs and SOS can make some good picks with 23 and 26.

Overall, yes, but not quite in isolation.

10, 16, 73 & 26* (3528 points) for Gibbs, 77, 19* & 37 (1431 points) 'values' Gibba at 2097 which is a hair above pick 4.

*2018/future pick current standings

You've got to remember that when looking at the overall outcome it involves the Dogs trade independent of the Crows one, and SOS managed a bit of a profit margin on that trade too.

16 & 40 (1824 points) for 28, 30 & 23* (2121 points) is a healthy 14% increase. Can't really be counting that into what the Crows paid for Gibbs though.

The equivalent of Pick 4 is still a decent return though. Especially if O'Brien, Kennedy & De Koning all kick on like we're hoping/expecting...

Didnt we get 2 first rounders for BG?

If Brisbane beat Adelaide on the weekend it helps us in two ways. The dogs move to 4th last and Adelaide are locked in to 11th or worst. If Essendon neat Fremantle Adelaide drops to 12th too. Moves both up a pick each. Hopefully what Gil said today comes to fruition and we ask for a PP too as we could be in for:

1
19
22
25

Now we should be able to snare some talent with that. Even if we go for the 4 kids. But we should try to trade away two second for another top 10 or a mature player (midfielder).

We've moved from 26th to 25th in the draft. :thumbsu:

We should be lobbying for a PP immediately after our first pick. Desperately need players that know how to move the football swiftly and accurately.

Ild say 12th is probably the lower end for Adelaide while the Bulldogs may get jumped by eith the Saints or Lions but I doubt both. Realistically if we end up with 1, 23 and 25 (with a PP thrown is as a PP) then we will have done well from last years trade period. It will have been a disgrace of a season but our draft outcome will look good.
