Hope this post isn't too 'list managementy'.

Just wanted to point out that the current standings of the trade with WB looks like this:

OUT: Pick 16, Pick 40
IN: Pick 28 (Kennedy), Pick 30 (TDK), 2019 Pick 19

Dogs won't finish last but given their dispirited effort against GWS + injuries they probably finish 10th at best.

The Dogs trade is a win in virtually every scenario.

Unless we give up Doc or Cripps we've got nothing if value left to sell.

3 x 2nd round picks will hold some value, as does our 2019 first round pick.

Agree though that we've probably run out of players we'd be willing to give up for any worthwhile return.

Not a fan of trading a future first especially in our position. Imagine Cripps does a knee and we finish bottom.

How many first rd free agents or father sons could there be?

If gaff and lynch move clubs dogs pick gets pushed back a couple of spots.

The bulldogs pick could be a godsend with them playing so poorly atm, coupled with us likely to finish bottom 4 again this year, we will have a scary amount of young talent on the list.

Blame the higher ups for running our club into the ground the last 15 years.

I don’t want to get into this type of discussion but it’s the easy option to blame previous management.

To elaborate a little more, how many players have we traded out over the past 3 to 5 years who are playing good AFL footy at other clubs currently? The easy decision was to trade out and rebuild with kids, then it gives us excuses about ‘youth / rebuild’. It’s like selling your capital to survive in retirement, instead of building capital to enable you to live during your retirement.

The hard work and toughest approach is always the path clubs like StKilda and now us ignore, whereas others like Sydney, Adelaide, Geelong, etc. work to build the culture and expectation within the playing group and developing their standards.

Hence why we get the embarrasing performances. It’s a club culture built on excuses.
