Can't give you a best 22 but would have liked to have seen these guys play:

John Coleman, Bob Pratt, Laurie Nash, Jack (Captain Blood) Dyer, Dick Reynolds, Basher Williams, Gentleman Jim Cleary, Lou Richards, Charlie Sutton, Whitten, Barrassi and Skilton (in their younger years). I caught the tail end of their great careers.

Yes. I am an old codger, I know!!

I'll go with 1 or 2 blokes from each side:

Hawthorn: Graham Arthur & Stan Spinks
Essendon: John Coleman & Dick Reynolds
Coll'wood: The Collier brothers
South Melb: Bob Pratt & Bob Skilton
Richmond: Percy Bentley & Jack Dyer for the fisticuffs
Melbourne: Ronald Barassi & Hassa Mann
Fitzroy: Hayden Bunton
Geelong: Polly Farmer
St.Kilda: Darrel Baldock & Ian Stewart
Carlton: Serge Silvagni
Nth Melb: Allen Aylett
