I read in Herald on Sunday that Byron is expected to sign a new two year with the Roos this week. Has anybody heard anything about this??

Byron a true blue Roo: Pagan

By Digby Beacham

Saturday, August 11, 2001

THE determined bids by the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle to secure Kangaroos star Byron Pickett appear to have failed.

Pickett is expected to announce this week he will stay at Arden Street for two more years.

His new deal is believed to be worth $800,000.

Both the Eagles and Dockers made aggressive plays for the out-of-contract Pickett, who was born in WA and wants to play in Perth before he retires.

Pickett's South Australian-based manager Kym Richardson said on Friday he would fly to Perth today and talk to Dockers officials before the Western Derby.

However, new chief executive Cameron Schwab and football manager Gerard McNeill yesterday denied any knowledge of Richardson's visit.

''I reckon Byron might stay at North but you wouldn't say that for certain,'' Richardson said.

Kangaroos coach Denis Pagan and football manager Geoff Walsh have been in constant contact with Pickett and his management.

Pagan was confident Pickett, who turned 24 yesterday, would remain at Arden Street.

''Byron told me in Sydney last Sunday morning he was staying with us,'' Pagan said.

An All-Australian in 1999, Pickett has re-invented himself this season from a bruising defender into a game-breaking forward.

In two matches against the Dockers and Eagles, he kicked 11 goals, including four in eight minutes opposed to Peter Matera in round 15.

Damn Devo - talk about a change of undies with a heading like that!!

Sorry, I had to make sure I got your attention.

I'd say I succeeded.

Agree with all the others.

The wording:eek: made sure you had everyone's attention.

I glanced at the article in the HS and nearly had a heart attack - can't remember the exact wording or heading, but it had the same affect as your post Devo.

We MUST keep Byron.

Phew..............

I last had palpatations like that a couple of years ago when I heard on the radio " Michael Martin has been traded to Brisbane."

My son started crying , I was speechless until it sunk in they meant Michael Martin of the Western Bulldogs not Mighty Mick Martyn of the Kangas.

They shouldn't read stuff like that out on the radio. I mean, as if anyone gives a sh*t about that!
