I don't want to trade the picks and i want us to take 2 midfielders, we can get another Forward or decent ruckman at pick 35. Don't count on Blease to still be around at 17 and Hill is a good chance to be gone then as well, but we can hope.

I do not want us to take McKernan and i pray that he's taken before pick 17 so he's not even an option. He's a in between, no position dinosaur, not big enough to ruck at AFL level (only 196cm) and not quite right for the forward line.

My wish list (no unrealistic hopes like Sidebottom or Ziebell) for pick 17 & 19 would be in this order: Blease, Hill, Swift, Robinson, Zaharakis, Heyne, Suban, Smith.

I'd be stoked with 2 of those. If we got really lucky Ash Smith might slip to pick 35, but that's even less likely after his draft camp results.

My thoughts exactly, I want Warnock but if he was in this draft I wouldn't rate him above the kids I expect to be there at 17/19. Off the top of my head I'd place him somewhere between 25-30 ability wise in this years draft. His only advantage over the kids this year is that he has AFL experience.

Agree on Mckernan, would love to see Sydney take him and leave Cornelius alone.

As for 17/19 your list is only midfielders, I agree that at 35 there will be at least 1 decent KPF and most likely a better than average ruck, however that's no reason to not take a KPF at 17/19.

As for my list for 17/19 it's like this
'slightly unrealistic'(imo in the 8-16 range): Lewis Johnston> Sam Blease > Tom Swift> Jackson Trengove > 'realistic'(imo in the 17/19+): Stephen Hill > Aaron Cornelius > Nick Heyne > David Zaharakis > Mitch Robinson > Paul Cahill > Ryan Schoenmakers > Matthew Broadbent > Nick Suban

Maybe a bit over the top, but that's what I'd like to see our lists looking like.

Pick 17- Stephen Hill- Is athletic and quick will be good in our midfield. Take him here because dont want to risk WC to take him.

Pick 19- Ryan Schoenmakers - I think he will be avaliable here, he is quick and tall 193 i think. Will be the CHF we need

At 17 is where we would need to choose a midfielder as WCE are almost certain not to pick KP at 18, which means the KP would be there at 19, in saying this though, I think 19 is to high for Schoenmakers, I see him as someone in the 23-33ish range.
imo Schoenmakers probably won't play as a CHF but rather a 3rd tall at AFL level, he has the height, but I'm not sure he has the right 'game' to play at CHF. Would much rather Cornelius if available here.

I would not offer either of those picks for Warnock TBH. And im also not keen on us trading a pick for Seaby. Its ridiculous.

We come out and say "look, we are going to utilise Hawthorn's blueprint for success in building a side from the draft", and then the next minute we're talking about trading a pick for a 24/25 y.o. ruckman who is pretty average really. With all the talented ruckman going in this draft i would prefer to see us pick one of those guys rather than Seaby.

As for pick 17 & 19 and who we might pick its hard to say. It really depends on what the other sides want in the first round as there are probably 25 that could go in the first round. I doubt Blease will be there come pick 17, could go as high as pick 4 IMO. Tom Swift would be a good one to get here, he could slip through to 17, but with his draft camp results i reckon someone will take a gamble on him before we get a chance at 17.

Michael Hurley could be a slider due to his lack of genuine pace, and might be there at 17. I'd love to get him as he will be a top key defender in the years to come.

I liked the look of Tom Lynch from what I saw at the State Champs. He's pretty aggressive, reasonably good skills, good hands, and has that speed/ endurance combination that will allow him to play through the MF, probably not tall enough to play KP though. Reminds me a bit of Bate actually, but with more pace...

Jackson Trengrove could be another slider due to his serious hamstring injury. Would give us a quality key defensive/rucking option.

Schoenmakers from SA is very quick, tall and has a sublime left boot. The only downside is he hasn't got a big engine (but then again neither does Maric) could be a good un.

Stephen Hill from WA would give us a quick, agile and skillful running defender, but i think he could go top 10...

Lewis Johnstone from SA looks an exciting key forward prospect and might be available here...

At the end of the day, we probably should just draft the best available player with these two picks. Regardless, I suspect we're going to pick up two real quality players who would go "top 10" in most other drafts...:thumbsu:

was there a scully or sully running around for vic at the carnival??
speedy midfielder by the looks of it..

We must keep these two picks unless they are traded for upgraded 1st round selections which would need us to include a player.

eg. Pick 19 & Green to Pies for Pick 11 (Only an example - no rumour or facts known for this trade happening)

Not a chance in hell.....Lets just give Collingwood Green.

Green + pick 19 for Port Adelaides number 4.....maybe

You are clearly thick & can't read! It was example of Melbourne upgrading on their selections of #17 or #19. Have a look at the little disclaimer in brackets - it could have been Sylvia, Miller, C. Johnson or any other player on the Melbourne list!

We've still got a strong interest in Robbie Warnock, if he can't get an arrangement with Carlton," Connolly said.

"We've also staked an interest in Brent Prismall and he hasn't made a decision one way or the other yet, so we're waiting on some confirmation there."

Connolly said Melbourne would consider giving Fremantle pick 17 or 19 for Warnock – a deal that would unite him with older brother Matthew.

"We've got a list management meeting tonight, so that'll be discussed, because we've got pick 17 and 19 in and around the mark," he said.

"Carlton offered pick 24 and they (Fremantle) didn't accept it, so we've certainly got two more picks that are acceptable
."
