If we agreed to pay Rockliff enough for band 1 compensation would Brisbane give us pick 1 and 13 with a future second thrown in for them?

Brisbane receive: pick 2, 7, 8, 2019 saints second

Saints receive: pick 1, 13, Rockliff

13 is substitutable for 19, as is 1 and 2 but I'd much rather 13 for obrien who suits are needs the most in this draft class.

Edit: with 19 substituted it looks reasonably fair on paper.
not sure that is a good trade for the saints unless they really value much more one of the first 3 or 4 draftees. Thats the thing about this draft any player in the group of supposed better 8-10 could actually be the best pick.

What about Saints picks 7 + 8 FOR Adelaide's picks 10, 17 + 18

(Based on Adelaide getting 10 in Lever deal from MEL and 18 in Cameron deal from BNE)

Crows get access to 2 TOP end talents,. where as the Saints get to add 3 first round talents?

For reference; draft pick values

Pick 7 : 1644 points
Pick 8 : 1551 points
TOTAL : 3195 points

Pick 10 : 1395 points
Pick 17 : 1025 points
Pick 18 : 985 points
TOTAL : 3405 points

Difference : 210 Points - Equivalent of Pick 50-51

Extremely hard to answer that one, as you'd need to know exactly who we really rate in the draft and where they're likely to go, but one thing I do know is that list spots are very tight and we'd be pretty happy with the depth of young talent we have at the club, so we're probably now in the position where we want quality over quantity, and as such would probably prefer to have 7 and 8 over 10, 17 and 18.

As others have said, I don't see Saints trading up the order unless they are targeting a specific draftee...all the talk is that the top 10 are pretty solid. Should be able to get serious talent at 7 and 8. The only other outcome I could see is if there is A grade midfield talent available (a la Gaff) and making a play there.

The Saints supporters have been tracking pick 7 all year, currency for Josh Kelly they told us. Now shopping it around for a pick upgrade. The elite talent will be gone by pick 7.

Elite talent is pretty strong right throughout the first round actually.

Unfortunately it drops off in the early thirties where Hawthorn come in.

Normally that would be a good trade for us, but at this stage we are looking for quality over quantity so I can't see us trading down.

I was all for trading up in this draft but I'm now starting to think the players around 7 and 8 would really suit our needs so unless we can get an established player we might just be best keeping the picks.

No thanks

Looks like we'll be going to the draft.

No bad thing.

But some ready made elite talent in the form of Kelly, Whitfield or Stringer would have been nice.

Oh well, looks like we'll be spreading the age profile and asking Billings, Acres and Sinclair to step up.

If those guys don't spike next season we'll stay 8th-12th.
