Picola & District Discussion 2022

The Weekly Times is reporting the clubs were 100% in support of AFLV affiliation and that the PDFNL is "vetoing" an agreement with the AFL (which hasn't been signed, so it remains a proposal at this stage).

Based on the precedent of Kinglake's move to the Northern league recently, AFLV will favour an affiliated league over an unaffiliated one if a club states "wants to play in an affiliated competition" as a reason to transfer.

If the Weekly Times article is correct, this would mean that AFLV and AFLGM could provide the administration for a newly-named league, leaving the current PDFNL administration isolated with no clubs affilated.

Without going into specifics, it is my understanding that there is at least one club that has a major ground redevelopment all set to go with significant government funding ready to be paid.
The stipulation is that the club is part of an affiliated league.
It appears that an employee of the PDNFL may be acting outside their scope and trying to create a kingdom.
This may be some of the rationale behind a club being suspended when said employee has been called out and taken to account.

So how do other clubs and leagues get ground upgrades that aren't affiliated, the outer-east comp isn't affiliated and there's some suburbs of Melbourne in that league. Not sure the Riddell league is either

What league is far better off financially from being AFL affiliated than before

The alternative is that the clubs go to AFLGM or AFLV and request that they come under their banner.

They'd either help them form a new league or a less-likely outcome (if 10 or less want out) would be they ask the Murray league to take the clubs under its wing as a second division.
Or that all clubs and the league want to be affiliated however there are non negotiable that are of concern which the reporter failed to report and the revolt comment is merely dramatising .

Only one metro league has an affiliation agreement - Riddell District.
The others have funding agreements only.

The leagues that shunned PlayHQ apparently lost between $15,000 and $20,000 in funding.
The threat of facility funding being removed due to non affiliation is dramatising and factually incorrect which the club , who I assume the first time poster is referring to has confirmed .

I have been told that the riddel leagues affiliation agreement is a 2 page document, whilst the threat of funding removal for metro leagues refers to this coming season .

If the clubs want to be affiliated then the league has no choice. The clubs own the board no ifs buts or maybes
‘ Want ‘ as in preference would be to be affiliated , does that mean at any cost , No . It’s been quoted multiple times that the leagues preference would be to be affiliated .
Boards are appointed to act in the best interests of the organisation , your assumption clubs ‘own ‘ boards is misled .

You may want to get your head around the idea that the league and the gross majority of clubs are extremely amicable and aligned in their views .
Also , despite your best intentions this matter won’t have as big a distraction as you wish and Picola league clubs will continue to be an attractive option for players to join including from your beloved club and league .
That is not to say that I have no sympathy for rumours circulating that at least 3 MFL clubs are extremely concerned about the number of players leaving their club and having doubt on the ability to field reserves .
Player shortage is a concern particularly post covid , however being assigned premier league status under the ccsp doesn’t and shouldn’t provide immunity to this issue at the expense of those who are deemed a community league .

I actually now have a personal interest in your league and will be watching many games and want like many the best possible outcome for the clubs.
