Any truth to the Rumours Billabong Crows want into the Picola?

Fair bit extra travel for them I would have thought
What about if they were part of a north-west or northern division along with clubs like Mathoura, Blighty, Jerilderie, Deni Rovers, etc.
Getting into a comp where they aren’t required to travel to the likes of Mathoura would be ideal I’d have thought for all .

I also heard that Wahgunyah may be interested in joining the league

If there were two divisions

Katunga
Mathoura
Deni Rovers
Picola
Strathmerton
Dookie
Katandra
Katamatite
Waaia

Jerilderie
Berrigan
Rennie
Tungamah
Tocumwal
Blighty
Billabong Crows
Wahgunyah

How would that fair?

Where do the possibly 5 western clubs go? There could be 3 divisions

There won't be five. Ultima have already been accepted into the CMFL.

There appears to be some level of pushback on the other four clubs heading into the CMFL. Wandella want in but from a number of reports, they will be an unwelcome arrival.

Not sure on Hay, but the other two are a possibility of being in the Picola league next year. If these clubs went to the CMFL, they wouldn't be competitive and their respective demises would be fast-tracked. The Picola alternative would be a smarter move for their long-term futures.

Thats Pretty good.
It would be a shame to lose Billabong from the Hume as they seem like a good bunch. Completely understand it from a few angles. Very difficult to attract talent when you have the money and attraction Osborne/Holbrook.
However thats part of the challenge but winning a few more games will help attract players as well (In theory)

Macorna a "lock" to join league in 2026?
Heard the same thing. Feels like country footy might look at lot different in the next 5 or so years - clubs changings leagues, u17/18 level getting less and less numbers and feels like the top level is struggling to make up numbers for reserves (yarra and benalla most recently). Not saying it's a good or bad thing - just feels like things might change a lot

Finals time!
Do we see the current ladder about where teams sit in the premiership race?
Waaia v Katty Grand Final for mine. Can’t see any reason why Katty can’t win it, they’ve been pretty dominant the last couple of weeks against decent sides.
Not too sure how Berrigan will fare after a fairly long break between games but think they’re capable of making a prelim if their forwards can fire during finals.
Katandra could quite easily see them drop out in straight sets on current form but they’re probably too good of a side to do that.

I see waaia winning it again coming up against katandra in a grand final repeat. Katty could test both sides on there day but if katandra can strike some form I can’t see why they can’t win it all, they do also have a guy who’s got premiership experience in Bell. Berrigan will be up against it I feel against the other top 4 sides. I can’t see anyone sitting 5th-8th winning it this year. Too big of a gap from the top 4 to those sides.

Any predictions for end of year awards?

I wouldn’t worry too much about Katandra, they rested players at the end of last year and fell from 1st to fourth. I thought they were the best team all year and just stumbled at the last hurdle in 2024.
I still think it’s between Waaia, Katty and Katandra and if Katty and Waaia win their respective qualifying finals, they both will play home prelims.
I hope Berrigan do some damage in finals and keep their resurgence going, it’s just a tough to come up against Waaia first and maybe go the long way to the Grand final.

Agree about your comment on Berrigans finals draw ... Still feel they are going go be a huge threat regardless
