I think you should be worrying more about your team than the Bombers. Looks like all the weagle bandwagoners have jumped off, 8,000 members down on last year, no more waiting list, begging for members, they even emailed me to ask if I wanted to join, want to guess what my reply was.

Correct me if I'm wrong Shandie, but the Eagles (less 8,000 members) still has a greater supporter base than Essendon (ie. the state of Western Australia not just some suburb in Melbourne!)

Look at the membership figures for this year, Bombers have more members than the weagles, the Dockers probably have more members than the weagles.

Yeah thats what allot of the eagles supporters are like.
All you have to do is have a look at the large numbers that leave the games early when there lossing.
You will never see a show like that at any other ground when such large numbers get up and leave as early as 3 quater time.
Last Derby was a classic.

You watch all the closet dockers supporters come out of that group.

And about the weagles, i hate the team. And the supporters are bandwagoners but we have some cool weagles supporters on bigfooty!

Sabre - you're so right about alot of the Eagles supporters, but probably unfair of others to categorise all the Eagles supporters as being the same.

The reason we have a lot of bandwagon fans is because we were so succesful in the early stages. Anyway, every club has bandwagon supporters - its not solely an Eagles problem.

The Eagles have just over 30,000 members signed up this year out of 38,000 maximum. This is slightly down on the same time last year which is expected after the first season of not making the finals in 11 years. There are also 30 corporate boxes not yet taken. Because of GST and no matches at the WACA the price of season tickets and boxes is up around 30%. Money seems tight at the moment.
Dockers are way down on last season's memberships and boxes and their targets are around 75% of what the Eagles have already got!
It's nice to talk about members and those that get down to the footy and really shout, scream and support their clubs. It's also sad to have to put up with the endless twaddle of the Teletubbies who don't get off their backsides and just type away on their PC's with as many insults as they can.
Good on the guys who leave at three quarter time, I'd take them over those who are never there any day!

Yes it is true the dockers memberships arnt as high as that of the eagles.But there are many reasons for this that I dont have time to go into.

And that Teletubie comment would not be directed at me now would it?
Because I may be way off but isnt it true that the dockers ARNT playing tonight?
That in fact they are play tommorrow night, and so my reasons for being home have nothing to do with lack of support for my club.

This people sadly make up a large chunk of the eagles supporter base.This is shown by the mass exodus unlike nothing at any club when there team is loosing.

P.S if you have had a bad night dont come on here with you dribble about "Not true" supporter, grin and bear it.Because its certainly not the first disapointment for the eagles this year.

It's all well and good to throw insults back and forth, but please remember that not all supporters are the same, particularly in our case. The majority of Eagle people are just normal footy fans, and in truth it kinda hurts to keep reading again and again that Eagles members are all corporate snobs who are fairweather and leave early when we lose. We do have a few of them, I'll readily admit that, but they p!ss me off as much as they do you -probably more.

Anyway, I shouldn't have even replied, and I'm sure everyone will remind me they said 'most' or 'some', not all, but a decade of this is really beginning to grate.

Well Sabre, I certainly did not have you in mind as a teletubby.
I never leave before the Eagles have left the ground, win or lose. Tonight I was at the tunnel cheering and clapping a great game and good performance...well done the Eagles.
I have rarely seen anyone sitting near me leave at 3/4 time but some do try to get off 5 minutes before the end to beat the traffic.

The tail end of last season was woeful for the Eagles, mainly because there was such a lack of effort, epitomised by Gehrigs attitude. These last two practice games have been full of commitment and endeavour. I and many other Eagles fans have really enjoyed seeing them play these last two games and can't wait for the season to begin.

Freo have lower support than the Eagles for one reason only, it is a two club state and Freo are number two. Argue about that along with Manchester City, Everton, Bradford, and Birmingham city in soccer. The number two club will often win but they are always number two and always will be.
