In a highly anticipated build-up to the game, Collingwood put on a withering burst of 7 goals and kept their rival goalless to lead by 45 points at the first change, and ultimately prevailed by 39 points against Port Adelaide.Poor conversion from the Magpies allowed the Power to win the second term by 21 points for a magin of 4 goals at Half Time. After conceding the opening goal of the second half to Port Adelaide, who got to within 18 points, Collingwood stabilised, controlled and restored momentum to win the the third quarter by 16 points, and lead at Three Quarter Time (3QT) by 40 points. The Woods converted the first two goals of the final quarter to ice the game and end any remote prospect of a victory for the Power. Port did salavage pride by winning the last quarter by one point, which meant they were able to win as many quarters as Collingwood did. However, the manner in which the Pies won their quarters did outweigh what Port Adelaide did and rendered their impact on the game redundant and irrelevant.

Collingwood won numerous statistical categories such as disposals by +86 (441 - 355), kicks by +35 (248 - 213), handballs by +51 (193 - 142), marks were +35 (113 - 78), uncontested marks were +26 (94 - 68), Contested Marks were +9 (19 - 10) and Marks Inside 50 were +5 (16 - 11). The story does not end there for the Woods, as they had further gains in contested possessions with a differential of +25 (172 - 147), +70 for uncontested possessions (273 - 200), Inside 50's were won by +15 (58 - 45), Tackles Inside 50 was +4 (12 - 8) and intercept possessions had a positive reading of +13 (83 - 70) allowing the Magpies to win the ball back sooner and score from turnovers. For the Power, their gains came from hit-outs by +2 (39 - 37), clearances by +4 (40 - 36), centre clearances by +3 (14 - 11), stoppage clearances were +1 (26 - 25) and tackles were won by +17 (72 - 55).

Collingwood's next game will be on May 11 against Carlton at the MCG. Time to convert more goals, more often to make the Blues feel very blue in the face.

You could make a case for a dozen more but I had already picked my top 3 all time mids, 4 if you count Tuddy.

It comes down to Tony Shaw vs Pendles or Swan and Tony Shaw gets you across the line every time. I don't have the same confidence in Swan though he may be more talented, and as silky as Pendles is, Shaw is the better leader.

Nobody seems to have Picken and he was our best finals player along with Twiggy Dunne.

You showed up well on the TV cheering the Pies during the 1st Q Swooper18. Nice front row seat

De Goey nails those set shots in the 2nd term and we kick a little more accurately overall then it's a 10 goal plus victory, which is what it felt like watching at the ground.

Our first quarter was simply untouchable and gee it would have been good to nail a 10 goal quarter.

Port are a pretty decent side, 5-8 on the ladder in my book so it was a decent statement from our boys.

I think Cox and Reid can play in the same side, they'll be crucial in games against West Coast. Horses for courses though, we have good depth and we deserve a good run with injury.

We can nail down a top 2 spot in the coming weeks against Carlton, St Kilda and Sydney. No such thing as an easy game but if we are fair dinkum we will touch up all 3 of those sides.

The possibility of three talls is growing on me. Mihocek is very mobile whilst Reid was moving as freely as he has for five years.

Cox comes in, and DeGoey gets bumped out to play more midfield minutes to cover the loss of Adams.

Or WHE gets bumped and plays on the wing.

I think the club should try and play cox Reid and Mihocek together for a few weeks to see how it works. I certainly didn’t like Reid rucking.

I like the idea of WHE's elite marking around the ground as a wingman.

I've got a foot in both camps. I don't want all 3 up forward at once, except for very short periods of time, but I want us to have a crack at a rotation system that means we've always got 2 of them up forward.

Pendles received a perfect score from both coaches - 10. Rightly so!
