News Pies forced to deny Fevola....

While I definitely do not want Fevola to come to us or think that he will, Pert has not given us a straight answer here. He gave us a pretty definitive answer in 2008 when the Cousins rumours were mounting. This time he was ambiguous.

I'm glad I'm not the only to think that.

I really hope this means we don't recruit fev, but the door is ajar

That's more like what I wanted to hear!

That is exactly what I wanted to hear.

I've got nothing against Fev. I really think his transgressions are blown out of all proportion...outside of football....but we don't need or want him as a player.

His biggest crime was playing in the wrong era.
20-30 years ago eyebrows would have hardly been raised.

I still think 9 are totally responsible for firstly putting him on camera and secondly airing the result.

Come now, the really juicy stuff that gets players sacked has never been aired.

His channel 9 stuff, apart from being embarrassing to his club captain, was tame compared with some of the stuff he's been accused of.

I'd love to draw a line under this one, and to be honest, wouldn't mind if Tarrant ended up the forward if Cloke or Dawes went down for an extended period.

Given the talent of our list, Swan could probably hit 60 goals if he played as a permanent forward in 2012. Fevola is not required.

There's an article in the Herald Sun today about Bruce Pendlebury (Scott's Dad) talking about Pendles staying at Collingwood, and also hoping that GWS pick up Kris, but at the end of the article this is said;

The Pies yesterday confirmed a Herald Sun report in which the club ruled out any interest in Brendan Fevola.
Pert said the club had "no interest whatsoever".

It's over now.:thumbsu:

I don't think it was ever NOT over matty

Talk on footy fan sites from star eyed supporters with a wish list is a long way from rational thinking professional recruiters

Had to read this two or three times before it sank in......

Ch 9 responsible for Fev being a tool.....?

I wonder if the publican in Ireland, Lara Bingle, the Bookies, his wife, the Restaurant owner in Prahran and the Barman who just recently had to clean up his vomit all think its channel 9's fault for showing the Brownlow footage?

Responsible for the story getting all blown up not for the behaviour. Although you could argue they had an obligation to pull the pin when they realised he was off his guts but they happily rolled with it. I think Pie Eyeds point about generations is relevant. People get very moralistic about this shit like they've never acted like dicks before.

I don't doubt people, including channel 9, fed off the Fev Story, it was for them "good" copy and "good" footage but to put it down to just that, falls way short. He constantly F***ed up not just on that one occasion or with the one club.

I think the difference between Fev and "people who have acted like dicks before" is that most people learn from their mistakes and eventually get to about their late 20's and realise its time to grow up and take some responsibility for their own actions.
Fev is approaching 31 and refuses to change, it was only a few weeks ago we saw him holding himself up on a a bar while vomiting.
This from a guy, with all his baggage, who wants yet another chance with an AFL club.

Nathan Buckley was one of the most self-disciplined players this completion as ever seen. Even Dane Swan said recently that Bucks would not engage with him for his first couple of years at the club because Bucks thought he was not being totally professional and getting the best out of himself, something that Dane agreed was true at the time.
To think that a person like Bucks would even remotely consider drafting a person like Fev, is ludicrous in the extreme. That is not to say Bucks wouldn't give guys a second chance, he would, its just that he would draw the line at a 3rd chance.

Fev, by my reckoning, is currently on his 10th chance.
It was never going to happen.

The reality is that footy, a reflection in every way of society, is full of blokes who never learn from their mistakes.
Footy players however are now judged differently than anyone else in society by excuse of their salary.

Do you see the same public scrutiny placed on even Police, Lawyers, Doctors or Media Faces?

Do any of these people have alcohol, gambling or social problems?
You bet your arse they do.

Fev got media r*ped as have many sportsman.
They are held to higher standards because the media say so and politicians are happy to agree...being halfwits themselves.

The new rumour from a mates facebook

Yesterday Brendan Fevola was flown to Hawaii by Collingwood in an attempt to isolate him from other club's enquiries.

Upon being successfully selected by the club with pick 65.
He will then fly on to Arizona to train with his new team mates.

I'll believe the club over any facebook rumour.

Today's quite from the club re draft picks;

http://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/newsfeatures/news/newsarticle/tabid/5586/newsid/126330/default.aspx

VFL and development coach Tarkyn Lockyer has stayed behind with players such as Nathan Brown, who is recovering from knee surgery, and Andrew Krakouer, who faces visa problems with the US following his criminal conviction.

The Pies will select two players in Thursday night's NAB AFL Draft and will use their third pick, No.67, to officially recruit giant teenager Jarrod Witts, who they have a hold on through the NSW scholarship program.

Witts has made the trip to Arizona but the other two recruits will remain behind in Melbourne with Lockyer.

"THE OTHER TWO RECRUITS WILL REMAIN IN MELBOURNE".;)
