Pies players who grew up supporting the enemy

Gibbs was hot for Adelaide

Gibbs was a North Melbourne supporter; apparently he loved watching Wayne Carey play back in the 90's, don't think it translated to a love of the crows when he shifted.

Houlihan was another Blue that came from a former Pies household.

North hey? I stand corrected. Mustve just read into the fact he was from Adelaide.

Maybe its Carlton with the policy of targeting Collingwood supporters?

Bed Reid went for Carlton

I'm fairly certain that Reid was an Essendon supporter like Harry & Sidebottom. His dad mainly played for Footscray but then switched over to Carlton at the end of his career.

Jolly's oldman was a staunch Essendon supporter so I'd suspect he was one as well.

Got a good start to a team of ex Melbourne supporters it seems. Pendles Buddy and Juddy. 3 of the top 5 players in the comp.

Growing up in the 60's, there were lots of Melbourne supporters at school. Then came zoning and a windfall for Hawthorn and Carlton. A couple I can still remember being Terry Wallace and his brother Lance.

It's amazing how far the Dees have fallen due possibly to a lack of success that was initially forced upon them by zoning.

Only Collingwood players I'm aware of that followed other teams are Daisy(Geelong) as his mother told me so, so I tend to believe her. And Nick Maxwell followed Hawthorn, although his family mostly follow the Bombers according to one of his nieces.

Daniel Talia (Adelaide) was a huge blues fan growing up.

Added to the misery posted by a few when we picked Lucas (a mid) over him (a tall).

I wonder if it factors into a recruiters overall picture?

You would say it would, but only on a minor level. As in if you couldnt split two kids, and both interviewed well, played in the same position etc youd go the bloke that barracked for your side.

They do ask at draft testing IIRC.

Sidebottom was an Essendon fan. Cam Wood and Ben Johnson were Pies fans, they're the only ones I can think of. Probably whoever is from WA supported the Eagles.

Cameron wood followed richmond as a kid.

He tweeted an old picture of himself wearing a richmond jumper with Brad ottens
