This weekend looks to have been something that has been specially fixtured by the club.

- Our AFL, VFL and VFLW teams are all playing our arch rivals Carlton
- Our Netball teams are playing the derby games against the Vixens and the Fury
- Our AFL, VFL, and two netball games are all on Sunday in the vicinity of the Holden centre
- The VFLW was originally planned to be part of this as well, but will be played on the Saturday elsewhere

I’d imagine the club would have put a bit of thought and effort into coordinating all this late last year (under Peter Murphy as interim CEO)

Key times:

Saturday 23rd
- VFLW - 1:00pm - at Warrawee Park (Oakleigh) v Carlton

Sunday 24th
- VFL 11:30am at Holden Centre v Carlton
- SNL 1:00pm at Margaret Court Arena v Vixens
- AFL 3:20pm at MCG v Carlton
- ANL 3:30pm at Margaret Court Arena v Victoria Fury

More info on the club’s website here

What do you think? Is this the perfect fixture? Would you take the opportunity to go to other games you wouldn’t ordinarily go to?

A good concept and they've done well to work around the broadcast times, which certainly limit flexibility around the AFL and SNL start times. Just over 1 hour between the main gigs also leaves ample time to exit and enter both venues. While there's some clash between VFL/SNL and AFL/VFLW I think most casual fans would be happy to catch a half of the secondary games, plus an 11.30 start / 7.30 end to the day would have accommodated country fans and families reasonably well. Obviously with the VFLW being moved the day ends sooner. With regards to families; those with 2+ kids there's potential to divide, so their young son or daughter sees their preferred sport. The 25% discount for the AFL and SNL tickets individually is also a good incentive for fans who don't hold memberships.

Had the VFLW not been shifted I probably would have caught what was left of the last half.

It’s time we took over Melbourne Storm (Melbourne Magpies) & add to the options...

Love the effort by the club but the other pies teams (other than AFL and to a lesser extent VFL) are still irrelevant to me.

If I were in Melbourne i'd definitely do the VFL and AFL double. It's a shame the VFLW clashes because that'd have been cool to see but you're hardly going to prioritise it over the seniors. There's scope to fixture it in the VFL spot if they've got the away game perhaps. It's a good concept!

Do they need to improve the amenities at the Holden Centre to make it really feasible though? You'd want to be warm, dry, comfortable and well fed if you're gonna be hanging out there in winter all day.

The bar at the Holden Centre is nothing more than a serving area. The whole thing is aimed at functions, not members wanting somewhere to socialise.

Thanks Pert.

I'll be doing the AFL/VFL double.

I really don't give a **** about Netball, tbh.

Same Here. I have not got into the Netball Side at All.

Don't even pay much Attention to there Results
