I think everyone is just waiting to see if Pies pick up Ellis. If not then Hawks and Blues may have their plans mucked up. I just find it strange how quiet Pies have been. Personally I would hope they go for Kennedy/Ryder (Pick 2) and then Hurn/Thomas/Douglas (Pick 5 assuming Ellis would be gone).

Massive rumours we are going to take (or at least wanting to take) Thomas.

Reportedly been down to Drouin several times.

I presume it's #5 we'd be considering him with, and ya'd asssume he'd still be there.

#2 is very quiet, which is the way it should be!

I know Collingwood are interested, but where have you heard they will use pick 5 on him. Thats way too earley for him he should go between 13-23 IMO. Would be Didak all over again. Obviously talanted, but won't produce enough consistantly and will only be a FB/HFF.

Thomas clearly has the ability to play midfield, it's just the fitness that he doesn't have at the moment. If he gets the tank for it, he'll be good to go.

I wouldn't be suprised to see him take the Luke Power route of starting as a small forward and working his way into the midfield.

Anyway, with this Power business, it's possible that we could be looking at him for #21 - it's possible, albeit unlikely that he could fall that far.

So with picks 2 and 5 we are getting Ellis, Douglas, Pfeiffer, Hurn, Swallow, Kennedy, Thomas, Jones and Muston - not bad.

If we get Luke Power at 21 vinn, I'll be chuffed!! :D

A side note, another rumour has sprung up that we've spoken with Nathan Jones three times too. Perhaps we're speaking to all the eligible kids on a number of occassions, to guage their character and stuff (especially after "bread roll" Brayden and "headcase" Billy).

Didak was a midfielder for Port Magpies and was touted early as a top 5 selection. Thomas is a top 20 selection and has already been pidgeon holed as a small forward.

I want Thomas and Ellis. But i heard with Ellis that he wont be playing next year at all because he has to fulfill a 1 year contract with some local footy league while finishing year 12 next year, anyone hear that also?

I thought it was highschool..... oh well.

Either way, I couldn't be stuffed waiting a year for him to play.

Nobody else heard that because it's not true.

He goes to Melbourne Grammar, and wants to focus on his study and play school footy next year.

It's an irrelevant point anyway, since there's no chance he was going to be strong enough to play AFL footy next year anyway. Give him a year to put on 5 or 6 kgs and he might be strong enough to play AFL.

Good point Vinnie. Didn't seem to hurt Luke Ball when he was drafted. Played for his school (I don't remember which school he went to) the year after he was drafted, and now he's one of the premier mids in the game.

Luke was a Xavierian, while Xavier is a Melbourne Grammarian :p
