Scharenberg wouldn't have stopped that shalacking but he was certainly a better option than Appleby.

Not getting Lynch will be one of our biggest regrets, Cox is absolutely terrible and should be dropped.

Crocker could be the worst player to get a game in the entire AFL this year, Appleby might actually just pip him for that honour.

Sier has regressed as a player, it's pretty concerning.

Grundy, Crisp, Brown can hold their head high.

Adams tried his ass off.

Treloar cops alot of s**t but his 2 way running improvement is phenomenal.

WA to Melb to NSW was always going to be hard.
Will be interested to see what intensity is brought in Q1 next week against the Tiges.

Our defence, which has been strong till now, was found out today. Howe did well in his first game back after injury, Roughy did his part at times, but their forwards simply tore us apart. No Moore, no Langdon, and they had Finlayson and Himmelberg playing blinders …. we had no answer to them at all. And Cameron, despite being well marked at times by Howe, simply got the ball too much and was ON. Couldn't be contained enough.

A few positives - Grundy was great. Brown and Crisp played some very good moments. Pendles showed some glimpses. Adams was working very hard in the clearances.

Hard to find too much else positive, especially with our inside 50s … the ball simply kept bouncing back out again, and they were simply using the ball better than us when they had it. They were playing near 100% today, we were at about 70%.

Need to use today as a lesson, because it's just gonna be backs to the wall otherwise from here.

What a pity we didn’t win the grand final last year.So close and yet so far.It looks like it’s going to be the best chance we had to win one for quite a while.

The Premiership Window Opened then Closed just as Quickly

Unpopular opinion but Hine has screwed us by the lack of key forwards picked up in the draft. Don’t forget they let Marty Hore slip through their fingers as well.

At least he picks good Players but I do agree he Gets Too Many of the Simmlar type of Players.

Doubt Hore would make much Difference actually

I don’t be understand the lack of foresight. We’ve had some good players come in who lack match fitness. Our midfield has had issues with their work rate this season. So what happens? We have an underdone Adams and another bloke (Sier) who can barely muster 50% TOG. How they thought we could carry two blokes in the engine room who couldn’t run the game out is beyond me.

Further, Moore goes out and we bring in a bloke who’s 13 cms shorter than he is. Three mobile tall forwards and we only had one tall defender who held his own.

The midfield setup is a disgrace and hasn’t adapted enough. The quality of clearances we allow is disturbing and it amazes me that we haven’t been belted more than twice this year. Unfortunately, the defence couldn’t hold up again today.

And to top it all off, our players are soft and brittle. Why can’t we ever have a team durable enough to sustain a high level of footy?

We’ll still belt Richmond though.

Club wide we were atrocious.
  • Selection. Too short in defence, underdone players, promoting players with poor VFL form, and key outs where we elected not to match the existing structure
  • Players not turning up with intensity and conceding 8 goals in the first quarter, with minimal improvement of effort thereafter
  • Poor coaching. What happened to the tactics that were a key to our improved showing against WC? Crisp should have played midfield from the outset, and given how undermanned our defence was Maynard should have been backed in to play a taller role again. Similarly when it became obvious that Appleby was too short Hoskin-Elliott should have been switched back.

Drop treloar he needs a reality check that he cant keep being a turnover merchant all the time, no point getting 30 disposals every week if half of them come straight back over your head. Seriously overrated honestly wouldn't care if we traded him tbh
So who replaces him? We already have to drop Appleby, Crocker and maybe even Cox. Apart from Scharenberg, we don't even have replacements for them.

I agree. But not just with key forwards but small crumbing forwards as well,Other teams cut us to pieces with their small indigenous forwards but where are ours?Hine just doesn’t seem to recruit that type of player.

There'll be no flag for us this year, and the season - or a finals appearance - is hanging on by a thread.

Hard to shake off the thought that Bucks reached his apogee when we came within a kick of a flag. But what has he had to work with this year?

The perenially injured, the one-off injured, the gun recruit who didnt fire, the suspended, the talented who wilt under pressure, the American who has been found out. We are back to playing kids and third tier players in the seniors because we have no other options. Our 'best 22' has about 10 genuine top 22 players in it. We are stuffed.

And to top it off, Richmond, Essendon and even Carlton have come good. Great.

Eddie, club brains trust, coaches - what's the plan?
