I don't profess to be a draft expert, nor do I select the players on draft night, but, I do have a reasonably good grasp on the 2023 draft class.

All are welcome to post comments, observations and draft rankings. However, and derogatory player comments are highly frowned upon and will be removed.

This thread is for the 2023 AFL National Draft class only, so please post any mid-season, 2024 and beyond draft thoughts in the appropriate threads.

Just don’t see it with Darcy Wilson at the moment. Give me Duursma any day over Wilson.
Duursma will be fine. He will land at an AFL club. He had a couple of nice moments in the academy game and he’s got the credits in the bank from last year. But his form this year imo has meant others have passed him. I think we will sort the order after the champs.

Daz obviously did this b4 the WCE vs Hawks game.

Logan Morris pick 13 to Geelong lol....I wish, might not even get picked up now from what I've seen in the champs. Had high hopes for him at Geelong but for a 191cm he's to one dimensional. They tried him down back and was unsuccessful i thought. Caddy would be my choice, but we have no hope!

Updated Draft Board by any chance?

Ok now that the national champs are done I have put together a top 30. Quite a few new additions to the list. I know parents, friends, family, players etc read the rankings so I am mindful to say that this ranking is only my opinion. There are so many good players in this draft that it is hard to pick a top 30. But here goes.

The below legend indicates the change from the May rankings.
u = places moved up
d = places moved down
New = New addition to the 30

Harley Reid is the only player to hold his same ranking from May.

where do you see harvey johnston, will brown and will lorenz?

where do you see harvey johnston, will brown and will lorenz?
All 3 are hard to gauge where they will get selected. They are all good enough to get drafted it will come down to who has picks at the backend of the draft and whether those clubs like them as players.
Johnston had one really strong game with VM and was ok in the others. He played for Sandy on the weekend and didn't get much of the ball. He's probably somewhere in round 3.
Brown has all the attributes and size to be a really good midfielder but for me he's a little hit n miss. His champs wasn't overly strong so that may impact where he lands. Averaging 19 disposal in the CTL isn't bad but I would like to see that increase to the mid 20's. Cause of his size and athleticism I'm confident he will get picked up backend of round 2.
Lorenz was quiet in the champs. He tends to try and do too much at times and comes unstuck. He moves well and is a nice kick. To be fair he's probably been played out of position at CTL and the champs. I've seen him play mid at school and he was easily the best on ground so if he can put together a strong end of the CTL season he can elevate himself into round 2.

Why Nick Watson the big drop off ?
I wasn't overly impressed with his champs. Yes he was the highest goal kicker in the champs but the game against SA put me off a little with the way he plays for free kicks. However, he got the job done vs a weak WA but his VC was good so he's a hard one to rank. TBF he's probably likely to land around pick 6. He's a jet, no doubt about that.

Apologies for the lag in updates. Have watched a fair bit of vision. Top 50 September rankings.
