Usually very picky with pizza and only order from a local place which makes pretty decent pizza (base is made at the store and is pretty bready, pizza not drowned in toppings and good quality ingredients). Had a shocking hang over last Monday and had a nostalgic craving for Pizza Hut (specifically BBQ Meatlovers). Will cut to the chase - ordered the 'value meal' ($43!) and waited for the two pizzas, bottle of Pepsi and garlic bread. Hands down the shittest pizza this side of Pepperonis in Elizabeth St. How the hell do they stay in business? Quality is terrible and price wise the campaigners aren't cheap. Serves me right for ordering from them but they must have plenty of regular customers (fingers crossed you never marry one).

Didn't realise they weren't still in business.

Ballarat still has an all you can eat Pizza Hut. Used to love it as a kid but I reckon if I went back there today my spew after eating it would taste better.

This can't be right. To get this at the local pizza shop it's about $25.

Pizza Hut seems to be making some sort of comeback in WA after almost going under here a few years back (Domino's dominated the market in a big way). Was reasonable pizza for fast food standards until they started getting tight-arsed and started minimizing toppings for bigger profits. And the way some staff are treated leaves a lot to be desired to say the least.

Had it a about a year back after not having had it since I was a kid. It's still alright though they seem to have pretty much downsized anything. No overly extravagant dessert toppings and pizza are a standard six or so and you can't really put in requests like you used to. Also was a fair bit more expensive than I recall. Was still content with it, I find pizza is one of those things that I just enjoy the cheap shitty versions of much more than the quality gourmet ones and thus Pizza Hut is perfect (but definitely pricey for what you end up getting, the Mia pizzas they do aren't too bad being 5 dollars each)

I thought this thread was bumped from 1995, that's the last time I can remember eating at Pizza Hut.

Their cheap all you could eat lunchtime buffet deals they had back then was a magnet for uni students, stoners and fat ****s.

That was their last desperate attempt to keep their dine in restaurants alive but after getting caned on that they just stuck to home delivery.

Pizza hut and Dominoes are about the same........

The chain pizza joints are over-priced crap.
I think Domino's is much worse though.

Local pizza joints are the go!

There's a couple of local pizza joints in my area that are still going strong because they deliver quality pizzas even though they're a bit more expensive.

The pizza chains are cheaper but are shit quality. Mind you I won't knock back a Dominos pizza if I'm drunk, I'm not a complete snob.

Always, always, always go to the local. The vast majority of the time the food will be better (and fresher) and the service will be better. I'll never go to a chain for pizza again.

P.s., anyone who lives in the outer North of Adelaide, hit up Bonanza Pizza in Craigmore. Their pizza is life changing.

I weep when i think back to how good they were hot and fresh when you ate there.
I go Dominos these days , tried Pizza Hut a few months ago and it was worse.

EDIT - and asking Dad for a Gingerbread Man as you left ;)

Plus one for Bonanza and Gabrianos deserves a shout as well. Both are also easy on the wallet. The rougher suburbs North of Adelaide are quite blessed when it comes to pizza joints(smart business decision if you see the obesity rates around there).

Angies and Marcos were our main two local pizza joints in Perth back in our uni stoner days, the delivery guys would bring us extra toppings, garlic bread, desserts and cokes in exchange for bongs.

Their pizzas were awesome even without the extras but we probably would've eaten the carboard boxes and been satisfied.

There's not many of the big restaurants left. The only one I've seen in years is in Shepparton. They're now these tiny shops ,often in shopping centre carparks, where they have a few seats at the window where you can't eat but mostly it's now a takeaway or order a delivery business.
