Wat ?? I was going to go to KL next year for a laksa, whats wrong with it? Ive never been (other than the airport)
Buenos Aries I also had on the future plan whats wrong with it???
KL is alright but basically it is a bog concrete city at the end of it. Not really much to see other than doing the petronas tower, night in china town, the batu cave and crusing around the centre. I reckon 2 days will be enough.

If you want what would be more touristy things go to malaka for a couple of days and go to Penang. Penang has hge amounts of food and is an enjoyable tourist town.

Miri and Labuan. Seen them both but no real reason to go there again. Both bloody small and not much to do there. Only did these because it was cheaper than taking the direct flight to Brunei and allowed me to visit more place.

There isn't anything wrong with either.
KL just didn't gel with me for whatever reason, worth a few days but I wouldn't be going back and wasn't keen on extending my stay. Apart, maybe, for an overnight for the thoroughly excellent food. I also don't handle heat and humidity well, which might have impacted.
Similar with BA. I think going younger might have helped, and not doing it solo. There were some interesting bits and pieces, and I can understand why some people rave about the place. I will give the place one thing, the gold medal winner for "hot women per square kilometre".

The thread is for places you found OK but aren't keen to go back to. I don't regret going to either of those, just not on my return list.

Valleys. Chelsea.
I went to Lightning Ridge around 1979, flew out and back in a Cessna with 2 mates and an older pilot who was flying mildly intoxicated, he got lost on the way back and we had to fly low over a country town to see if we could figure out where we were.

As for Lightning Ridge, I don't remember much about it, we were rotten drunk the whole time, no desire to go back.

Would you like me to go on.... there aren't many places in the US I would never go back to tho. Loved it- and the people. So much more friendly that us its not funny.

I think that's for 2 reasons:

1) they heard your accent and immediately know you're foreign
2) by and large aussies are tourists there. henceforth friendlyism

But yes by and large friendly.

I have lived there as a local, amongst the locals, being a temporary local. I found them pretty much the same as here. Enter a store, they are friendly. Restaurant, friendly.

Well luckily i never ran into those people

I did leave Denver one week before the dark knight shooting tho. And the states in general one week before 9/11. Yes it couldhavebeenme peternorth

OMG!!! YOU 2???!?!?!!?!

Gympie was a mistake I'll never make again.
Most of the time its so in the middle of me and the next place I have to plan to avoid it, either drive more or less that day to avoid spending a night there.

Ive been Gympie motel free for about 4 years so far

Yeah stranger/ppl you meet day to day- but im also talking about people you already know. Example- two girls I did camp with, ten years later I stayed with them for a week each in their homes. Back in camp in 2001 a girl's mum let 10 (ill repeat 10!) of us crash when we went out clubbing one night, had a whole spread of pancakes, bacon, fruits on the table for breakfast.

My parents would not do that. Not in a million years.

Its interesting, ppl say aussies are friendly (tourists usually). Is that a trait in the western world as tourists go to touristy areas and the staff are trained to be friendly.
Its pretty rare to not find friendly people everywhere Ive been, just have to watch out for the angry ones with guns.

Though I have even had a guided escort by the PLO in Bethlehem

Canberra, Rockhampton and Geelong.
Ive been to Rocky a few times it has a bit of Boho feel cafe scene going in some places.
I usually go to use up free hotel vouchers that are about to expire and go to the cinema and some "big smoke" shops.
Botanical gardens is a good free camp mates use it for that, right opposite the shops.
