I haven't been to the US yet but I feel I'll be very well liked in some parts and probably would have a hell of a lot of fun.The US in general I have no real interest in returning to. Much prefer Europe.

not having to beg for tips or antagonise the potential crazed gun man will do thatEurope has the US covered for rudeness
The only people I know who call European waiters etc rude are those who don't speak one word of the local language and when a waiter doesn't understand them, they shout the same thing at them. They don't understand, they aren't deaf.not having to beg for tips or antagonise the potential crazed gun man will do that
but in Europe I can remember people being rude except for the jaded staff in tourist traps that I try to avoid and I dont remeber people threatening to shoot me or mug me in Europe, which is pretty rude
I have an understanding of italian and spanish and my ex wife french and german. All it meant was we knew what they were saying when they were rude and could give back as good as they gave. The only people I know who call European waiters etc rude are those who don't speak one word of the local language and when a waiter doesn't understand them, they shout the same thing at them. They are often grown adults too, service can be a profession in some parts of the world, not just a casual job, so they will not cop grief from fools.

You need to go to the teppanyaki chain and experience the onion volcano now.I actually went to an Outback Steakhouse when in the US. Experienced the Bloomin' Onion
I also went to Teppanyaki place in VA and noted that I was the only one in attendance using chopsticks
I like listening to travel "reviews" from family members who are campaigners. "They were so rude. we're never going back". Hmm, I wonder why Next holiday location sorted.
It is. And the people are so friendly, cannot even think of a time I experienced rudeness. Even New Yorkers were nice.

I remember there were rules in Louisiana (probably elsewhere too) were you could get under bid for your job, someone comes in and says I will do it for less and you match it or get told to leave.
Other jobs with great tips are sold as businesses

Anyway. Rude ******s everywhere no doubt. And in tourist areas at end of a long season. Evenmore so.
To be fair to places like Venice and Barcelona, tourists have been coming to their home and treating it like s**t. Too many tourists think they are owed something because they are choosing to spend money there. I've rarely found people in Europe to be rude because I generally treat everyone with a bit of respect.Apparently Venice and Barcelona do not want tourists there. /shruggs- fine I say- stay away and then see how you go.
