I find people friendly everywhere. Not referring to wait staff- in fact they sometimes were over bearing as all ****.
Just meant in general, ppl you see in the street, ppl who help tourists out, and ppl I worked with and made friends with. Some of them welcomed me back in their houses and had me stay with them 10 years after camp. Even a homeless person i spoke to in LA was lovely. (first Yank i spoke to actually not including airport staff)
I ended up staying with a cop who pulled me over in the US,(he even deputised me gave me a gun and we went out on a job), a guy who fixed our camera in the US, a taxi driver in Turkey had us stay for a few days, a back packer girl I met in Australia when I went to Germany, just a random German guy I talked to in Hamburg took in me and my wife, a random German Couple in Budapest took us in,and heating repair guy we met in a pub in Amsterdam wanted us to stay free with his family and help him do some work, a mechanic in London let us sleep in our van in his garage at night.
Then even just hitchhiking in Turkey we get picked up and taken to dinner the next night with the family of the guy who picked us up.
The Palestinian taxi driver in Bethlehem wants to take us home for dinner, even a neo Nazi in Brussells gave me a guided tour of his town.
