Delist- Newton, Miller, Bell, Johnson or Jamar (if you can pick one to be worse than the other)

Trade- Rivers

retirees- Robbo, Wheatley, Whelan, Mcdonald

you sir are an idiot... jamar has played two games this year and dominated some of the best ruckmen in the comp... i wish everyone would get off millers back, he would have carved essendon up on saturday night if it was for our disgraceful disposal and rubbish decision making... consistantly found space and was either ignored or recieved terrible delivery... he has to keep playing as he is the ONLY foward we have with an size and presence about him at all, and watts needs protection...

if we trade rivers bailey should be sacked because he is one of the most important guys in our side... has done some very big jobs this year and as garland and frawls etc develop, him consistantly coming in as the 3rd man up is guna make them almost unbeatable as defenders...

i seriously wish we would just put newton in and play him for 5-6 weeks so he could have a serious chance to prove himself... his work at casey has been fairly impressive IMO and robbo is rubbish at the moment and at least newton would contest and chase...

im really not sure what will happen to wheatly, he'd be in our best 22, but not sure how much longer he has... maybe we could trade him, no it'd be for stuff all but maybe...

Good post, and what you have said is the way forward but not all in 2010.

We can not field an AFL side in 2010 who's best 22 includes a forward line containing a couple of 19 yo KPF in Butcher and Watts; a very raw Liam Jarrah and Wona who had a good year first up will probably only manage 2-3 senior games this year.

As much as i love Watts and have seen enough to feel comfortable that he is a player, and Liam Jurrah a freak of nature that IMO will continue to fade in and out of games circa Jeff Farmer. They can not be expected to carry the load. It would be unfair to expect they carry the load at VFL level.

Plus im not sold on Butcher... I bought into the hype early but as time goes on and the carnival continues... He's a big unit at TAC level not sure how he would go against men week in week out for the first 3 years of AFL life. That said will still go top 10.

Wheatly will be sent to GC as our best uncontracted player IMO. Juice will be sent as the AFL's worst contracted player...

Ok so some of you want to delist Miller and Newton and Robbo and have Butcher at full forward. You do relise KPF take a few years to develop? As much as I dont rate Miller or Newton we need to keep some support for the likes of Watts and possibly Butcher.

I would delist- Robbo, Mcdonald, Wheelan

Well said Andy. I'm all for a a forward line of Watts, Wona, Jurrah and maybe Butcher but not next year. Realistically In 3 years this would be a good forward line.

We should also try trade for another experienced mid like a previous poster said we lack experienced players in the 22-26 years of age range.

NO!!

We have already got Moloney, Brock, Davey, Sylvia, Bruce, Green and to an extent Jones we do not need another slow f'ing mid. That stament has got Morecroft written all over it!

Unless an absolute superstar is avialible ie Judd, Gazza jnr, Selwood etc

Only if that player was exceptional. Like a Gary Ablett for instance. No way should we trade 1st & 2nd round picks for players who are not top shelf.

I think we just need to be patient. Its the midfield we need to focus on 1stly, because that's where we are breaking down the most. Hopefully McLean will come good next year if he gets a proper preseason into him, because I think he's the best midfielder we have when he's right.

We have Sylvia, Davey & Green (when he plays there...) who are showing that they can have a big impact in the middle.

Add the likes of Grimes, Morton, Blease, Strauss, and possibly Bennell & Maric, and not forgetting the possibility of Scully or another high class midfielder from the upcoming draft and things don't look too bad.

Problem is, its going to take a few years for that group to mature and have a big impact. But as I said if McLean's up and firing and Sylvia, Davey & Green can continue to fly the flag, we should be able to assemble a pretty formidable mf in the next few seasons..

Its the group of players inc. Watts, Blease, Strauss, Bennell, Morton, Grimes, Maric, Frawley, Garland, this years 1st rd. pick/s, and possibly others like Jurrah & Wona who are the group of players that will help us challenge for a flag when they are in the 22-26 y.o. range. We need to remember that its still probably another 4 years away until we can be thinking about premiership contention :thumbsu:

2010 core midfield group -

Sylvia
Scully
Morton
Davey
McLean
Moloney
Green
Grimes

Looks mighty fine on paper.

I'd take Hawkins for Bruce in a heartbeat.

Personally, I'd trade Hawkins for a few ballpoint pens and a pack of erasers, but that's just my opinion :p

Haha, yeah I think I got the order mixed up.....I meant I'd trade Bruce for Hawkins in a heartbeat.

I'd even throw in Zomer.

And I don't even really rate Hawkins either.

We need the likes of Jones, Bate, Petterd, Dunn, Batram, Buckley, Newton to stand up and be counted for these are the guys we need improvement from they have been in the system for 3 years now. The should be capable of playing good games of AFL footy.
