Plane Taking Off Crashes In To Fire Truck Crossing Runway

Sad news from Lima, (Peru) with a couple of fatalities and a serious injury sustained by the surviving firefighter.

It would seem a fire engine undergoing a training exercise for a plane crash has crossed the active runway without permission from ATC.

Simultaneously, an aircraft cleared for takeoff by ATC, was well down the runway on its takeoff roll. As aircraft can’t stop and despite the fire truck attempting to swerve off the runway and out of the way, the two have tragically collided.

The plane was carrying over 100 people and how this wasn’t an even bigger disaster is a miracle. The pilots did a fantastic job in averting greater fatalities.

Terrible that the firies lost their lives but it seeks as a reminder for all to double check when crossing roads (or runways). Also important to maintain peripheral and situational awareness at all times.
