100% Mid - 130;
80% Mid 110;
50% Mid 80.

Could potentially play multiple roles during periods of the season. Maybe FWD to start and working into the season building for finals?
Is he too cheap not to take the risk? A lot are going Fyfe/Parker/Cripps, at best you'll get 110 from them, for 30-35k more you can get Rocky, at best you'll get 120-130, at worst 105-110

I'm looking at M.Crouch, Beams, Rocky, Cripps, Fyfe, O'Meara, 170k, 170k.

Thinking:
M.Crouch will be 115+
Beams 110+ but injury prone
Rocky 105+ role questionable
Cripps 100+ underpriced
Fyfe 100+ underpriced
O'Meara 90+ underpriced
Rookies on consideration Wigg, T.Kelly, LDU

Very Risky, but I like it

If you think at worse he avgs 105-110 then id be jumping on that from the start.

For me his worse is 95-100

It really depends between Boak, SPP and Wingard who gets the majority of midfield minutes and who geta the majority of forward minutes

Rocky never played forward for Brisbane really last year so an article saying "will play more forward then when i was at Brisbane" probably isnt that major

Ive almost just talked myself into picking him. For me its watch role in PS

Another factor is his round 10 bye?

Very similar to the midfield setup im looking at

The round 10 bye of Rocky is very annoying no doubt, will have to play a rookie. However you'll make up the points having him every week over the other 3 bye rounds

I reckon it'll go Wines, Ebert, Rocky as their main 3, with PP the fourth. Boak will play half forward like he did a lot this year. Wingard and Gray are so dangerous up forward, makes sense to leave them up there with small stints through the guts when needed

I think you need one of Titch or Danger for that captaincy option every week

I can see Mitchell dipping in price slightly, and with a healthier Hawks team to start the year I'd like to see his output before purchasing. At worst I think he'll be available for his starting seasons price up to the byes.

Ebert played inside mid last season, but with Rocky coming in he'll move straight back to the outside/wing.

I think Danger will burn a few people at the start of the season. My theroy with Cats falling just short 2 seasons in a row, they'll want to avoid superstar burnout and Ablett and Danger will be 50/50 fwd mid and their mid minutes will ramp up after the bye.

Yeah good call on Danger, at this stage I'm not starting him, won't to see how he goes with Ablett for a while. Also the fact that he killed it up forward late in the year might mean he'll play up there more. I still think he'll average 110-115 but I think you'll be able to get him cheaper after 5-6 weeks

Who would you go out of Kelly and Zerrett?

I'd pick Kelly. He's proven he's able to break a tag, is in a midfield that has of easier targets than him too. Zerrett racks up the ball him and Zaha are the 2 clear tagging targets at Essendon. The only thing saving Zerrett is that Zaha can't break a tag so it's an easier win for most teams.

I feel like Dyson Heppell could still be a good unique if anyones willing to take a risk considering there are a depth of such quality in this area.

Ticks alot of boxes
- Accumulator
- Well rounded mark and tackle game
- Will never get the tag
- Has done 107 before and priced at 100
- Will spend large chunks onball/midfield

Im not sure Kelly has proven he can beat the tag?

HNY all.

Nicnat will be universal R2
with R1 likely Gawn... can anyone see any other smokey undervalued rucks?
Darcy or Preuss maybe...

Sandilands is undervalued. Question marks on his fitness rather than if he'll play IMO.

If Sandi is injured early in season Darcy may establish himself as starting ruckman for the season. I wouldn’t trust Sandi to play more than 4-5 matches in a row at any time. Even if not injured we will rest him for long travel and extra week off around bye time etc..
I would have a back up plan if starting with Sandi.

Menegola averaged 110 from his last 8 games including finals. Haven't seen much talk of him. I know the Cats will have a stacked midfield but surely he's still a worthy choice?

Undoubtedly. But he generally scored more when it was 2/3 of Danger/Selwood/Menegola in the team from memory. With GAJ as well, he may take a hit. I think he is still likely top 6 forward but not sure he will be anywhere near 110.

His finals campaign with all of Duncan, Selwood and Danger playing was pretty impressive
You going with Menegola mate?

With all the attention on the big 3, maybe Menegola is the one to get off the chain. Collingwood had 4 Mids go 105+ last year. Cats could too

My January Fantasy team....what I love the most is that all players selected will rise in average, so clearly I'll be the winner. In reality not all players increase their averages, but somehow we are lulled into eternal optimism this early in the year.

That being said this team has $44k left over.
  • Defense happy with.
  • Midfield has questions on Beams (injury), Rocky (role), O'Meara (injury), Kelly, Wigg, Mutch, Holman are rookies pending selection R1, but will likely roll with 1 semi premium rookie - LDU, Dow, Brayshaw, Kelly.
  • Ruck Sandilands questionable (injury week to week). Hopeful he'll maintain or increase slightly and I can funnel funds from others into an upgrade.
  • Forwards happy with. Barlow will be in the middle smashing it out 100+ av, Billings will have the odd bad game but will continue to break out and I'm thinking Dollhouse 2.0 but higher ceiling. Lobb a risk but may get DPP in R6 and could be swapped with English or Frampton to replace Sandilands incase of emergency. Christensen and Bennell under priced but may re-consider for a cheaper rookie.

Last year the winner only had 3 players in the starting squad not improve. These 3 were all very minimal aswell

Fyfe, Mills and Dahlhaus along with that after week 1 Mills was traded to Oliver after round 1
