How concerned are people about the round 14 Bye?

Teams missing will be: Port, West Coast, Essendon, Bulldogs, Sydney and Melbourne

At this point in time, I'm very concerned about my DEF and FOR rookies, I'll be missing all of: Tippa, Hartley, DBJ, Adams, Kennedy and Petracca. On top of that, I'll also be missing Hanneberry, Liberatore, Gray, Gawn and Wingard.

I think I need to address this.
Nope, not one bit.

I will have 6/7 players missing.

Round 15 however is a different matter, I will have 8 premos missing but may address this with a sideways trade
out of Stef and Barlow.

Why will you still have all those rookies listed

Most will be cooked by then

You're right, I won't have them all. I intend to get rid of DBJ this week.

But I'm really undecided how to best manage my team to work through it, so I wanted to open up discussion.

It's a fine line between planning ahead and taking the best option at the moment.

Can you post your rd 14 team?

Round 14 is looking the worst for me

Sure, but it's not my team that I specifically want to discuss, more so, general structure. As I think that Round 14 will be the most difficult round for most people.

I've run some data, and here's my findings

This would suggest that it's not only me, who, at this point in time has an over representation of players who are missing Bye2 (Round 14).

The x axis is showing target ownership numbers, so it's counting the number of players in each Bye week who are owned by more than x% of coaches.

Is that data from your leagues?

**** the Bye rounds.
I'm not trading in players based on when they are having a week off, I'm trading in the players I think will score the most points from the point of trading them in.

My plans re the bye are simple.

Have fewer players from bye round 1 going in to the bye, ideally around 8. Only if it makes sense for the team, don't trade just for this.

Trade three rookies missing bye week 2, over to week 1 players before week 2.

Trade three rookies missing bye week 3 over to week 1 and 2 player before week 3.

Ideally (will never happen) this means you go in to the first round something like:

Simple breakdown:

Pre-bye 1: 8 bye 1 players, 11 bye 2&3.
Pre-bye 2: 11 bye 1 players, 8 bye 2, 11 bye 3.
Pre-bye 3: 11 bye 1&2 players, 8 bye 3.

Further breakdown:

Six bye 1 keepers, two rookies (22 playing bye 1) have at least 14(16) trades left
Eight bye 2 keepers, three rookies, rookies traded out post bye 1 for bye 1 players (22 playing bye 2) 11(13) trades left
Eight bye 3 keepers, three rookies, rookies traded out post bye 2 for bye 1&2 players (22 playing bye 2) 8(10) trades left

Now, in reality this won't happen. Players will get injured, rookies get dropped or just not be getting games. But the general idea is what I'm going for.

As for how this will guide me? I currently have 6 bye 1 keepers, 6 bye 2 keepers, and 4 bye 3 keepers. The rookies currently don't matter, as I'll trade half of them out before the byes anyhow. However this guide will help me split line ball decisions when it comes to who I trade out and who I trade in from here on. For example, this method strongly suggests that I get in Fyfe to my team before I add in any bye 1 players.

Nice. My plan is similar to this and I'm treating it as a time for luxury upgrades.

Week One: B Smith, J Smith and maybe short to rookies. Should be able to bank 500k.

Week 2: Libba, Hartley and Wagner to Pendles, Simpson and a rookie

Week 3: Blicavs and Keays to Hanners and Daulhaus.

Also planning on upgrading Kerridge to Goldy or Naitanui via some extreme dual position action between now and then. I'll have five trades left to ride out the season. Will keep two of them to upgrade Adams and Tippet in the last few rounds.

Round 16 Team:

Shaw, Docherty, Rance, Simpson, Rich, Adams, (Rookie, Rookie)

Parker, Ward, Ablett, Hanners, Pendles, Zorko, Cripps, (Hopper, MacPherson, Rookie)

Gawn, Naitanui or Goldy, (Grimely)

Daulhaus, Hall, Martin, JJK, Wells, Tippet, (Petracca, Rookie)

I only have 16 playing in week 1 of bye rounds.. Nightmare should have brought in Zerrett over Montagna last week to begin evening it up

Rd13 is my focus (currently 16). Rds14/15 no problem.

Looking to trade out all the Ess spuds after their bye to double upgrade down back. Will hold one of Tippa or Adams for D/F bench.

Am planning on building a war-chest over the next two rounds, trading in Mathieson and Collins and any other bubble boy with good JS.

Then will hopefully have enough $$ to do two upgrades during the byes, without having to worry too much about downgrades.

Hopefully I'll win two out of three league games too!

My byes are wack atm. Hopefully I have time to fix them. I'm 11-15-6 lol. I'm not counting Goetz which is why those numbers don't add up.

Backs: 1 SP from each bye (Shaw, Doc, Boyd), 2 more Round 13s, 2 more Round 14s, 1 more Round 15.

Mids: 3 premo keepers from Round 13, 3 from Round 14, 2 from Round 15 then too bloody many Round 11 rookies but I'll partially fix that with Mathieson.

Rucks: Both Round 15, plus Cox hopefully still playing would mean a total of one donut over all three byes.

Fwds: 1 Round 13 keeper, 1 Round 14 keeper, two Round 15 keepers, 2 Round 13 midpricers one of which will become another Round 14 keeper, Petracca and a non-playing donut (Wyatt)

My aim is to field at least 20 each week beccause dropping shit scores is gold IMO.

I think I'm well positioned to achieve that but obviously there are many variables

You're right, I won't have them all. I intend to get rid of DBJ this week.

Shouldn't you be looking at ditching BenKen before DBJ? He will bleed money in the next couple of weeks, while DBJ will likely appreciate now that he's got that 1 super low score out of his system & posted an 80+ yesterday.

Round 15 however is a different matter, I will have 8 premos missing but may address this with a sideways trade

This was always gonna be my problem too. Even though I've always had more Rd-14 bye players in my team, the rd-15 players are predominantly premiums (or at least after-bye keepers). Serves me right for having 4 GWS players, I guess.
